If you managed Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 by System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2 , you need to install this hotfix (KB 2489044 : An update is available that lets you add Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 as supported platforms for Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 2)
You don't need restart system after installed this hotfix .

By default , SCCM 2007 SP2 or above version can discovery Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 systems .
