This Update is ONLY required should you use WM 6.0 or WM 6.1 and it ONLY supports Exchange e-mail accounts, accessed via ActiveSync.
I have been told that for POP3 or IMAP4 this doesn't and will never work.
This Update is meant to be used with Windows Mobile and Exchange Server 2010, which will allow you to have the full benefits of this integration.
Should you have any doubts or comments, do not hesitate.
Kind regards.

Now you can keep valuable information at hand with the new Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile Update and Microsoft Exchange Server 2010.
The Outlook Mobile Update is available for Windows Mobile 6.1 phones. When your phone is connected to Exchange Server 2010, you are automatically informed if there is an update. If you have a Windows phone running Windows Mobile 6.5, you do not need this update.

Thank you for not forgetting about us Windows Phone 6 users out there, with all the hype going to Windows Phone 7 these days.
I REALLY need to upgrade my Exchange server!!
This is an old update- i've had it since at least january, or earlier. Quite good, unfortunately non 'outlook email' convos do not thread :(
And your text message convos in the Outlook desktop app are not easily distinguishable from email convos.
Good post nonetheless, though. Office 2010 kicks butt, haha
Hello Panicatack,
Exactly what Professional version are you using, if I may ask ?
Hi,
I tried to install the update on my HTC Touch Pro (Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional) - but the update only seems to be available for Exchange users? I use Outlook Mobile to check POP3 accounts and synchronize it with Thunderbird using BirdieSync. Is it possible to get the new design, that looks very easy to use without a stylus, without having an Exchange Server?
Hi Philipp,
You are correct !
This update will only work IF you are synching against Exchange.
Thank you,
Philipp
I have an HTC Touch Diamond on Windows Mobile 6.1 pro, and when I try to install the .cab, it says "Your current version is not suported" :/
Any idea?
Thanks!
Doud
Hi Doud,
Did you try to unisntall it ?
The error you are facing is not usual. I mean, somteimes the CAB installation can fail due to some kind of corruption.
Let me know.

I have purchased a HTC pro 2- I intend to upgrade to 6.5 . I need to be able to synch my PC for M/S office-outlook 2010. And email using a pop 3 from Att. Do you know if these will all work? nThanks
Sure.
You can synchronize up to 8 accounts where one is the Exchange Server account.
Kindest regards,
Even after i installed the update still my omnia 2 using the previos outlook that i was using, any solutions please? THNX
Did you try to remove the other version, first ?
You know, Omnia is a "tunned" Windows Mobile but, it should install, as it does in all other devices.
Did you choose the exact same language you had installed ?
Kind regards,
Hello,
Thank you for your replying, yes i removed the old version frist and the language i set it to English same outlook language but still i'm using the old version even after i tried to remove it and installe it sooo many times but i faild to get the new outlook.
Best regards,
Ibrahim
Hello Ibrahim,
What I advise you to do is :
1 - Remove the old version.
2 - Soft reset your device ( Power Off/ Power On )
3 - Try to install the new version.
4 - Tell me how it went.
I have an HTC Touch HD - Windows Mobile 6.1 pro.
Install of OutlookMobileSetup.cab went fine.
Unfortunately, I got a 0x80004005 error code when the update process tries to download the software from the server.
Any idea ?
Thanks !
Alto
Hi Alto,
Try to use one of the below solutions :
A - Simply uncheck the Calendar, Contacts, Email, Tasks settings in the ActiveSync options and that will force the phone to delete all synched content. Then re-check all those boxes and fresh copies of all the data will be downloaded. There can be something corrupted on the Device side.
B - Break the device partnership with Exchange or Desktop. Re-create the partnership and try again.
Note : Please use the second option in case the first one fails.
Let me know how it went.
I had this working just great after we went to Ex2010, but now I re-imaged my phone with WM 6.5 (HTC Touch Pro 2) and the Outlook UI looks nothing like the above screenshots-- I thought this functionality was to be included in WM 6.5. It seems to have gone back to the "old" Outlook not-touch-friendly interface. Is there a way to check the Outlook Mobile version number?
Hi, sorry for the delay.
If you click the link above that takes you to the update, you should be able to install and revert the situation.
Hope it helps.
Have a nice weekend.
On a relatively different but same WM 6.1 and excahnge server 2010 issue - I have HTC touch pro2 with WM 6.1 which was working great with exchange server 2003, but our office migrated to Exch Server 2010 and now the mails are not syncing! Our administrator told me the new settings for SERVER ADDRESS are: "IP address/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync" but the moment i put this information and press next, the part after the IP disappears i.e. "/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync" is gone, so activesync doesn't work! Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks,
Sunny
Hi Sunny,
Sorry for the delay.
The server IP can not be IP/microsoft-server-activesync since that is the internal reference that IIS will read to pass the information from the server to the device.
The usual address for WM devices is EQUAL to the OWA access for your company.
Try it out and let me know :)
Hi Ribeiro,
Thank you for your reply. I agree but ever since we upgraded to exchange 2010, the OWA has changed to IP/microsoft-server-activesync, and that's working for all android based phones and Iphones in our organization! So I can understand that this is the internal reference, but our network administrator is not sure what else needs to be done for making it work with WM phones. I have asked him to check if it is possible have some sort of alias for the whole IP/Microsoft- thing, but am not sure if it can be done, or if it is the right alternative. So that's why I need your help on how to make this work on my WM 6.1. I see people are using WM with exchange server 2010 so would appreciate greately if you can suggest something at my mobile end or at the server.
Thanks and regards,
