I just got an e-mail informing me that I could now upload and create documents in http:/docs.com, so I went ahead and tried it out.
For starters, you don’t need to create usernames or passwords. You just use your facebook credentials. If you’re logged to facebook already, it just works and your name shows at the top right of the window.
I uploaded some PowerPoint files I presented in public conferences in the last few years. They were uploaded without any issues and they showed fine on the web interface. Next, I set the security so they could be seen by all my friends.
Editing the document was very similar to using PowerPoint, complete with the slide sorter, ribbon and all. I felt very familiar.
Next I created a new document using the Microsoft Word Web Application. Again, very simple to do and the user interface was very similar to Microsoft Word.
I was impressed with the overall experience. Simple, intuitive, straightforward. I am impressed! I cannot imagine an easier way to share documents with my facebook friends without clogging their e-mail inbox.
