Microsoft announced today that Virtual Server 2005 R2 is now available for download at no cost. All you need is a licensed copy of Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2 or Windows XP SP2 (XP is not supported for production use). The Virtual Server add-ins for Linux guests (various flavors of Red Hat and Suse) are also available for download starting today.
