One of the comments on yesterdays PowerShell webcast asked how remote clients should be configured in order to allow PowerShell to make WMI calls to the remote computer.

You can find a detailed explanation by going to the links below:

Connecting to WMI on a Remote Computer

WMI can be used to manage and access WMI data on remote computers. Remote connections in WMI are affected by the Windows Firewall and DCOM settings. In Windows Vista and later operating systems, User Account Control (UAC) may also require changes to some settings. For more information, see Connecting to WMI Remotely Starting with Vista.

The following topics are discussed in this section:

  • Configuring a Computer for a Remote Connection
  • Connecting to Remote Computers
  • Specifying Credentials and an Authentication Level for the Remote Connection

The links you provide here aren't working for me.  I've been banging my head against 0x800706ba errors for weeks now, and am still unable to connect to WMI on some subset of my machines... I need all the help I can get in this regard.  Thanks for the post on this topic.
