Our US TechNet events team is back on the road presenting at various locations around the country.  One of the sessions we're delivering is on Managing Windows Vista with Windows PowerShell.  Microsoft.com has some great PowerShell resources including a PowerShell workshop authored by Frank Koch of Microsoft Switzerland.  If you're an administrator interested in working with PowerShell then this workshop is a GREAT place to start!!!

For more PowerShell resources go to The Windows PowerShell Toolbox.

What's in the workshop?

The workshop is quite comprehensive, but to give you some idea of what is covered I've listed below some of the topics:

  • WORKING WITH PROCESSES
  • OUTPUT IN A TXT, CSV OR XML FILE
  • OUTPUT IN COLOR
  • CHECKING CONDITIONS USING THE IF CMDLET
  • OUTPUT IN HTML
  • WORKING WITH FILES
  • FINDING OBJECT INFORMATION USING GET-MEMBER
  • DELETING FILES
  • CREATING FOLDERS
  • WINDOWS POWERSHELL AS GENERIC OBJECT PROCESSING MACHINE
  • WMI OBJECTs
  • WORKING WITH NET OBJECTS AND XML
  • WORKING WITH COM OBJECTS
  • WORKING WITH EVENT LOGS

So, if you really want to learn PowerShell, click here to download workshop and work through the exercises at your own pace.  When you've done all the exercises you'll have a solid foundation of knowledge to build upon and put PowerShell to work to help you better manage your environment!!

Enjoy!!!
