Tesco has signed a deal to roll-out Microsoft Office 365 across its Europe and Asian operations.
Mike McNamara, Tesco CIO, said the deal would encourage a culture shift to more flexible working. “We want to put technology in the hands of all our colleagues, whether in the store, distribution centre or office, so they can create value for our customers,” he said
The City of Chicago will be installing Microsoft Office 365 on the cloud for its 30,000 employees with an expected savings of $400,000 per year.

Dixons Retail is deploying the cloud-based Office 365 desktop productivity suite across the UK, Ireland, the Czech Republic and Hong Kong to support 20,000 users.
The electrical retailer is using the cloud-based Office versions of Exchange, SharePoint and Lync to aid staff collaboration and support flexible working and save money.
The retailer says it is moving towards a more mobile strategy, which will mean that colleagues do not have to be at a fixed point to receive information or work collaboratively.

Coles will roll out Microsoft Office 365 to its 100,000 employees throughout Australia, the grocery store said.
Coles plans to deploy Microsoft SharePoint Online, giving employees 24/7 access to the Coles portal through any Web-enabled device. The company aims to remove communication barriers across its staff, it said.
The portal automates functions that previously required employees to be on-site including holiday requests and approvals, Coles said. It provides anytime access to pay slips, rosters, holiday calendars, team member special offers, training, blogs and corporate social networking, it said.
“Office 365 will provide our employees with a digital identity with security protection that gives them the ability to create and share ideas and learnings in a less structured way wherever they choose,” said Coles IT group general manager, Conrad Harvey.
