Exchange 2003 “Mailboxes” and “Database Sizes” Reports for OpsMgr 2007

The Exchange 2003 Management Pack for MOM 2005 contains a few reports that are not included in the OpsMgr 2007 version of the Management Pack.  Two of these are the “Exchange Mailboxes” and “Exchange Database Sizes” reports.

I’ve recently taken these two reports and converted them to work in OpsMgr 2007.  All I really did is change the main query in the reports to use OpsMgr DW views (the collected data is in the same Event/Format as it was in MOM 2005), and change the way it gets the list of computers.  Aside from a couple of other minor changes, the design/format of the reports are exactly the same as they were in the MOM 2005 versions.

Both of the reports have the same parameters and design:

The list of servers comes from the group named “Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server Group”…..although not every server in this group will have mailboxes (ex. OWA Servers).  One difference from the MOM 2005 version is that you can select any number of the Exchange servers in the list…in the MOM 2005 version, you could only select “ALL” or a specific server.  All of the other parameters work the same as they did in the MOM 2005 version of the report.

  • This is cool.  For those who don't want these reports, you may need to turn off a few rules that kick off scripts to pull this data I think daily.  That's what I am doing right now.
