"More interestingly, from our point of view, the c-ip or Client IP field did not show the IP address of this server. In my good repro, the request came from 127.0.0.1, the local loopback address. The customer's log showed that the request to the web service was coming from a proxy server."

After reading this; I tried accessing the site on the server itself...well, the site was not accessible....I fixed it by making sure the HOSTS file on my server points to the correct IP address. My servers have host file entries for all web applications, and the said web app's entry was off by a digit. When entered the correct IP, it started working.

I have written a web service and used the SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges to access a list to do some operations. But when I access that web service through the application, it asks for user name and password. Ideally it should not ask for user name and password. Please tell me - what should I have to do so that user name and password will not be asked for accessing the web service?
