Error message WSAECONNREFUSED when trying to PPTP to ISA Sever. Same solution as SNORBERG.

After removing KB956572 and KB952004 RAS on ISA Server was listening again on port 1723.

I just applied the last set of updates to my ISA 2006 server. Single CPU, hyperthreaded.

After applying the updates I could not get my VPN clients to connect, same as previous entries.

I then removed KB956572 and KB952004, rebooted and was then able to get my VPN clients to connect.

Since applying these updates RAS does not start automatically any more, so I am assuming there are other problems with some of the updates that were applied.

We experienced a different problem with this patch.

After it was applied all PPTP VPN connection attempts failed with the following error reported in the log.

118.93.241.222 ISAGATEWAY - TCP - - 20/04/2009 10:28:34 p.m. 64223 890 0 0 0x8007274d WSAECONNREFUSED 0x0 0x0 Firewall - 21/04/2009 10:28:34 a.m. 192.168.47.10 1723 PPTP Failed Connection Attempt [System] Allow VPN client traffic to ISA Server 118.93.241.222 External Local Host - -

We removed the update and PPTP VPN connections worked again.
