PXE is part of the Distribution Point in ConfigMgr 2012, therefore you have to make that server a DP and enable PXE on it. You can chose not to distribute package to it and use it only for PXE.

Everyone always assumes we've been assigned the Full Administrator Role and never include the minimum permissions required to perform actions like this in SCCM 2012.

Are there any updates in ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 to the following comment (from the link below) for PXE service points scalability guidelines?...

"In Configuration Manager 2007 our capacity planning states “Up to 10 PXE service points per site, with a maximum of 75 PXE service points per primary site database” from the following link? One of the reasons for this is due to reliance on the Site Component Manager. Learning from our customers requirements, we have redesigned portions of our PXE service point. Starting with Configuration Manager 2012 Beta 2 the PXE service point is a property of the Distribution Point role and no longer a separate site system. Since it is a property of the distribution point, it no longer monitored or installed by SiteComp. This is now done by Distribution Manager. With this change, it will allow Configuration Manager 2012 to improve the capacity beyond the numbers published for Configuration Manager 2007."

Ad(Thanks)vance!

JJ

I have a confusing issue with content distribution and association.

Here is the scenario:

We have a primary location (HQ) with multiple branches.

The branches are over a WAN link

We do not expect any administration at the branches, all has to be done centrally. However we want systems in each branch to pick definition updates from their local branches and not across the WAN.

Our Approach.

SCCM site server installed in HQ

Site systems (distribution points) was installed in all the branches.

boundaries were automatically created for site assignment

new boundaries were created based on branch ip address range. these branch boundaries were associated with corressponding branch boundary group. Each branch boundary was configured for content management, and the DP in the branch was made the reference point.

Endpoint protection ADR was configured to download and distribute content to the DPs in the branches.

please can you analyse this strategy

For example, the WIM I have has to indexes, one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit. The "Schedule Updates" is grayed out on the console. Is this supported?

By the way, will there be good documentation on deploying non-Microsoft operating systems? I never really touch them, so I'm pretty clueless when it comes to deploying Mac OS X or Linux type OS's.

Cheers,

Do you have a followup post regarding the last step in the process "User Targeted Applications Set for Pre-Deploy Install"? I am looking for information about how this works since there is no step you can create in the task sequence called "Install User Affinity Applications"... etc.
