Everybody's mean

I mean it. Peanut. As a group, combined, we are mean. Average that is. Any mathematician will tell you this. And what does search know about this? C how hard this is to figure out? Just think about it. If we can't figure out the difference between mean, mean, and mean, how is a search engine supposed to?

It's pretty easy to miss. How about this one? Miss Miss could not miss the missed mess? I think I just maid that one up. Where did that come from anyway? Or is it may'd, mayed, maid, or made? May be I am just messing the point. Well, except the point on my head (of all the things I miss, it is my mind I miss the most.)

SharePoint, SharePoint Search, FAST search and Bing search are all the same in this respect too. They have to figure out what you mean. Or are you just being mean? And they usually do it on very little information. Like, "Orange", what are they supposed to do with that?

But more importantly, it is not about a single solitary thing. A single an swear. A common misconception that everyone has, including so called search experts (like me), is that there is really only one left answer. Whoa there, for you Missy, there may be. As a mean group that is, but what I mean is that every individual means something menially different. Is it any one-der that they also expect an answer that isn't just mean?

Are you cereal? Yes Inoun. An Inoun example!

I sent out an email to a search distribution group the other day and gave the following answer. 42. And said, "There are 2 correct answers." The first response, almost as fast as Bing itself was, "Oh, that's easy, the answer to life, universe and everything." To which I replied, "Okay, but what's the second one?" Long, silent pause.

You sea, as human's, we have a tendency to miss a tonne o' things. And we have a tendency to fill in the gaps. Make stuff up. And as individuals, we also associate things in our tiny little pointy heads, well in a non-mean way. We are all unique. Different. And so search, has to account for this, by not being, you guess it.

Mean.
