OmniKey have now released a new version ot the driver for their CardMan 3x21 readers which clears the problem of reading ACOS5 cards (for which they had earlier supplied a registry fix, as noted in the article). This is already available through Microsoft Update. This does not fix the other, lesser problem of not being able to enroll certificates on ACOS5 cards. However, I have today (4.4.07) received and tested a further, pre-release version of the driver, which does fix this problem, and I imagine this will shortly be available through M/S Update. I commend again the prompt response of OmniKey in tackling problems as soon as they become aware of them.
