&lt;p&gt;I have my instance of LDS installed on a 2008 box and I cannot see the krbr service running.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Also I would recommend sticking to inheriting any userproxy class from an existing user class using a custom schema since most 3rd party applications expect and unfortunately hard code the objectclass=user in their app.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The synonym allows you to create an alias for another object. This would work great if they wouldn't allow you to rename the database (a distinct possibility)&lt;/p&gt;
