実は私は18時に「ブログを書きなさい」というアラームをカレンダーに仕掛けてます。これを始めたのはマイクロソフトの期が始まる7月です。IT Proエバンジェリストで世界一のページビューを持つ人たち（Eileen や Keith のことですが）と同じように毎日書こうと思ってのことです。でもやはりできませんでした。そもそも日記を書く癖のある人でもなし、結構 不精なものでやっぱり厳しかったですね。でも 2008 年も引き続き頑張ろうと思います。
思えば私がエバンジェリストという職に就かせていただいたのは2005年の1月。それまでは今日の大晦日にも多くTV CMで流れている金融系の企業のお客様のところに非常に多く通っている日々を送っており、祝日はあって無きが如しでした。ITが本当に好きなんでしょうね、プライベートよりも仕事重点なこの10年間だったと思います。そんな中、このエバンジェリストという仕事に就いた3年間はまさに走馬灯のように過ぎました。Tech・Edなどを代表する大型イベントの壇上で話すのはそれまでの仕事と大違いで、緊張いっぱいな仕事で、準備にも相当なパワーと体力を使う仕事であり、IT Pro道場などもできるだけいいものをお届けしたいという気持ちで実施の前の日はどうしても徹夜に近い状況で仕事をしてしまいました。
実はお話をするのが非常に苦手なんです。高添が同じことを言���と「嘘だろ～」と突っ込んでいる私ですが、実はすごく苦手です。でも歌うのは大勢の人の前でも平気です。これは大学で所属していたサークルで日比谷野音にみんなで上がったり、歌ったりしたなかなかできない経験の積み重ねによるものです。そんなこんなであまり緊張しないで壇上に上がれるようになってきている今日この頃です。もちろんすごく準備をして臨むことはそうなんですが、ある時 「失敗しても死にはしない、伝えるべきことがちゃんと伝えられればそれでいい」と開き直ったんです。そしたら自然体というか、自分の思っている通りにしゃべって、もちろん120点をつけられるしゃべりはまだ一回もできていませんが、緊張だらけでどうにもならないなんてことは全くなくなりました。意外ですかね？でもエバンジェリストやっている奴はみんなそんなに得意じゃない人がやっているケースが結構あるんです。
だからと言って現場でデータセンターに8時間 籠ってトイレ行けないとか、3日間靴下を手洗いで過ごしたとか、下着を裏に穿いたとか そんな世界のことを忘れたことはありません。IT に関わっていて目立つ人は華やかなケースが多いんですが、そういう厳しい勤務をしている人が今もいると思うと「若い時は．．．」とかいう気にはなりません。できればみんな楽にIT を道具として使える、そのプロフェッショナル ということでピアニストやバイオリニストのような尊敬される存在になれるように応援したい、それ故 今やっている仕事はまさに天職だと思っています。2008年 は「いやあ あの話聞いたおかげでこんなことやあんなことが．．．」というお声をより多く聞けるように一生懸命 情報収集して役に立つ情報をお届けし続けたいです。
話を変えます。
2008年に登場する Windows Server 2008 はRay Ozzieの言葉を借りると「Disruption（断絶的）」の代表的な製品開発の結果と言えると考えています。もちろん今までのコードが中で動いているところもあるはずですが、そもそものコンセプトが違うところがいくつもあります。Windows 95 の装いを持った Windows NT 4.0 が登場した時に「変わった！」と思ったものですが、Windows Server 2003 R2 を見た時にはセキュリティ強化を含めた観点でNTから続くラインアップの最終的な成果になっていると私は思いました。これは当時一緒に仕事をしていた井戸も同感だと言ってました。2008 はVista同様に最初かなり戸惑いを覚えるUIや機能が揃っていますが、今年エバンジェリストのいろいろな話を聞いたいただいた皆様にはそれが大きな潮流に乗っかっているということにお気づきでしょう。でも大きな変化が起こる時に日本人は横を見てそれでも石橋をたたくわけですが、じっくり吟味をした上で他よりも早めに動き出さないとその一番のメリットを甘受できないそういう状況がそろそろやってきているのも事実かもしれません。まあ皆さんは最適なタイミングを見計らってこのDisruptionに対応するといいと思います。
私はIIS7というこのDisruptionの中で最もわかりにくいところを担当していると思っていて、本当にまずは知ってもらう作戦でしばらく頑張ってきたのですが、2008年は実践編をやっていかないとダメなんでしょうね。Tech・Edは一体何を話すのやら。。。
来年はうちのエバチームの厄年シリーズが幕開けですので私は例年通り 明治神宮へ出向いて今年は厄除けを買わないといけない状況ですな。さっき見に行ったら もう出店の準備万端ですよ、びっくり。。。

[Other] the 2007 writing freely...
As a matter of fact, I have an alarm set in my Outlook calendar that reminds me to write a blog at 6 pm. I started this at the beginning of our fiscal year which is July. IT Pro evangelists who have the highest views in the world - I mean Eileen, Keith and many others - writes every day and I tried to do so myself. Well it turns out that I couldn't :-( Well I'm not a person who writes diaries and actually I'm a lazy person so it was quite hard for me. But I'll keep on trying in 2008 too.
I started my work as an evangelist in January 2005. Until then, I was visiting a financial customer - I saw TV commercials many times today, the last day of the year - I haven't spent the holidays like I was able for these several years. I probably love my work and IT, I recall my last decade a very work dedicated 10 years much valuable than private times. These 3 years I have spent as an evangelist came and gone like a missile - I mean it went by so fast I cannot believe. Speaking on stage at large events like Tech･Ed was far different from the work I was doing until then, I got very nervous every time, I used a lot of horsepower to prepare for them. Regarding IT Pro Dojo, I always wanted to give out the best of what I have and I recall spending the previous night up and running all the time.
I'm actually not good at speaking on stage. I always "No way!!!" to Osamu when he says something like this but to be honest I'm really not good at it. Well on the other hand singing in front of people is OK. I joined a team at my university where we sung and danced on stage like Hibiya Yaon - a pretty famous stage for musicians - any many experiences like that made today's me. Well these days I don't get so nervous before speaking. Of course I prepare before I have my sessions but one day I said to myself, "I'm not gonna die even if I make this horrible, the point is to tell everything that needs to be told." Then everything changed and I was able to be calm and be able to speak what I want to tell. I haven't given myself even once, 12 out of 10 score yet - in Japan we often say doing one's best is 120% - but I never get screwed up being so nervous anymore. I don't look the type, right? The guys doing evangelists in Japan, some have the same kind of background and I've seen the alike in several cases.
It doesn't mean I will forget the real world where you sometimes get caught inside a data center for many hours, or needed to wash your socks by yourself and not changing to new ones for three days, or even put your underwear on oppositely because you couldn't switch clothes. People who gets spotlight in the IT world tend to look luxurious - very small number of people - but when I think there might be people who are still doing something like this, I wouldn't say it's something you have to experience when you're young. You have to be working with honor and other people should be looking up to you doing extraordinary things using IT - like famous pianists and violinists - and I want to help you be that. So I think the job I'm doing is the job to do just that. In 2008, I hope I get many comments saying, "Well that story you told me lead me to do this and that and that was so cool!" so I'm gonna keep on gathering useful information and deliver it to many people.
Changing context...
Windows Server 2008, which will be coming to market in 2008, if I borrow the words from our Ray Ozzie, a product that represents "Disruption." Of course there will still be code that has historically been there and will still be there but as a whole there are so many different concepts packed in the product. When Windpws NT 4.0 that had the face of Windows 95, I thought "This is huge change..." but when I saw Windows Server 2003 R2, I felt this is a complete figure of a very secure product in the end of the road for the NT lineup. Fumihiko who was working with me at the time also felt the same. With 2008 and Vista, first you'll probably feel like watching a giant puzzle in front of you at first look of the new UI and functions. People who heard many stories from various evangelists this year, you will notice it is on a stream that is connected to a big river. Japanese people looks around and checks what everyone is doing when some big change happens and even after that, we try hitting the change with a stick first not bare hands. I feel it's time you have to keep on checking what the stuff is very carefully but you also have to step out faster than other people in order to get the early benefits - I really think it's a fact that the market is changing in that direction. Anyway, it would be nice for you to find the best timing to take a bite at this "Disruption" :0)
I happen to be the person handling IIS7 alot - a very difficult to understand part of this Disruption - and I always thought we need to tell WHAT IIS7 IS first and I kept doing that but I believe the year 2008 is the timing where people will need more practical stuff, performance, tuning, monitoring, more customizing and code that actually works. I wonder what I will be speaking at Tech･Ed!
Next year, our team will enter the "Yakudoshi" years - something that is believed in Japan, in certain ages of men and women's life there are years that you will have a big challenge and sometimes unhappiness in that specific year - so I'm going to the Meiji jingu, a Shinto shrine, and buy an amulet to get away from it. It's near where I live and when I went out about an hour ago nearby, there were already prepared people ... wow there's still several hours until countdown...

いやあ今日はクリスマス本番ですが、要はあと一週間で今年も終わりますね。皆さんにとって2007年はどんな年だったでしょうか？よい年だったらいいんですが、悪い年だった人にとってはもうすぐ終わりますよ、来年はきっと。。。（＾－＾）
我々エバンジェリストにとっては色々とあった年でしたね。年明けは田辺がMSCの残り会場を回っていて、同時期に高添があらためてActive Directoryと新情報インフラで全国を回り始めました。その後は皆さんもご存じの通りというか、道場のページやMSONのページを見ていただければその経過はわかります。記事執筆やもちろん大型イベントでの講師なんかもやってきましたし、TechNet Flashでのトップストーリーをかなりの数 書きましたね。バーチャルラボもいくつか提供できました。そういえば5月ころに骨折した人もいたっけな。(^。^)y-.。o○
私にとっては念願だったアプリケーションプラットフォーム編をスタートできたことがすごく嬉しい年となりました。これは松崎にかなり感謝しないといけません。前職からMSに入社してコンサルやサポート時代を過ごして、日本のITの現場はキレイごとではなく、みんな疲弊しながら仕事をしている、できる人がなんでもやる そんな状況だというのを肌で感じてきました。もちろんその状況が根本的に変わってITが戦略的に使われてITに携わる方の立場が向上する日が来るために毎日色々なことを考えている、ある意味不思議な仕事をしている我々ですが、まだ現実はそんなに甘くないことは重々承知しています。もう一つはこの状況であれば、MSが言っている開発者とITプロという役割分けはメッセージを受け取る多くの人たちにとっては両方必要というのは当たり前で、開発志向あるいはインフラ志向な人がいるだけであり、専任できている人は幸せな人なんだと思います。
そこでずっと考えてきたことを実現してみたのがアプリケーションプラットフォーム編なわけです。もちろんWindows Server 2008 も Visual Studio 2008 も出荷する時期だからその辺りを含んで最新の情報をお届けしていますが、狙っていることはそういう区分けの無い情報提供が皆さんにどうおっしゃっていただけるか、喜んでいただけるのかを本気で知りたかったということです。この意味では今やっている編で終わりなわけはありません。今回のツアーでは今までのセミナーで一番アンケートをじっくり読んでいます。かなりの反響と応援メッセージをいただきました。ビジネス施策上、やはり開催にあたっての制限から時間が足りなかったり、でもお伝えしたいことはいっぱいあったりと 参加いただいている皆さんにとっては不満な点がいくつか出ているのが実情ですが、「もっとじっくり聞きたい」というのが概ねのメッセージで、これは興味を持っていただいて「もっと聞きたい」と言っていただいているわけですからうれしい限りです。「無関心」な人はアンケートに直接表れるのですが、IT Pro道場は幸運なことにそういう人が非常に少ないセミナーなんです。
とりとめもないことを書きましたが、ということで来年も頑張っていきます。まだブログは年内も書くと思うのでまだ「よいお年を」には早いですが、とにかく年内にやらないといけないことを皆さんもサクッと終わらせて2008年を迎えましょう！

買ったばかりのカメラを落下させてしまいました。(>_<) カメラさん ごめんなさい。ということで割れたフィルターをきれいに除去するのを旅先でするのが難しかったので途中まででの写真になります。
広島はすごく色々な名産がありますね。宮島まで含めると焼きがき、あなご料理・あなごめし もありますしね。でもやっぱり定番はお好み焼きですかね、カメラはこの時 元気だったんですが、頑固そうな大将に気を使って撮影なし。あとは海のものが最高ですね。最後の写真は小いわしで、塩で食べたんですが、これはびっくりもので美味しいです。おススメ。

The audience marketing team who is working very closely with evangelists created another interesting new portal called "Microsoft Free Contents Library". You can access it from here. Yes, it's under the Power To The Pro site.

This portal gathered various information related to engineer's skill up and it seems that this portal will get more wider coverage continuing till June so far. Well it was made for this purpose so , there are links to basic webcasts, links to related Virtual Labs, a list and links of related MSU courses, and also links to related competencies for people/companies who are interested or already participating in the Partner Program. Most interesting part of this site is that it contains a skill-up check list you can use to create a schedule with this template how you're gonna prepare and learn to actually pass the targeted MCP exam.
I'm asking this every time we do something new so it's getting harder to ask but if you really find something you think that can make this better, please give us feedback of the site. I couldn't find a feedback form or e-mail link so if you get something you wanna tell us, click the E-Mail link on this blog site - this sends the mail directly to me. ボリュームいっぱいなのがやはりコメントで多くいただいていますね。若干前半で情報を盛り込んでお話が展開してしまいました。最後の一時間のばたばたが残念というコメントも見受けられましたのでまたまたカリキュラムの時間配分をじっくり眺めていきます。ただ、参加された方の興味が非常に広範囲になりがちな内容でもあるのでバランスよくというのが実は狙っているところです。

有名なのはお弁当だったりして食べに行くにしても...という声が結構あったのですが、とんでもない！上州御用 鳥めし、昔ながらのかつ丼などかなり楽しめました。おススメ。でも何故か着いて最初の食事は激辛麻婆豆腐だったんですが、、、なんせ松崎が好きなもんで。私は酸辣湯好きだったりします。

Sorry again for late posting! To be honest, this weekend we're moving to another office so there's boxes everywhere.
The agenda for this Dojo is full packed so there were many comments about that. This time we took a little more time speaking in the first half of the session so there were also comments that some people wanted the latter half more. Well we understand and will take a good look at the time table again. But one thing to note, there are a wide range of people who have various areas of interest especially with this Dojo. So what we're aiming is balance for each area.

Windows Server 2008 is RC1 now with the Hyper-V technology also so we need to upgrade the environment to newer versions but we need a little more time for checking everything. I think the seminars in January, we'll be able to deliver with product versions and the newest RC versions.

若干 書き込みが遅くなりまして、申し訳ありません。土曜日に東京に戻り、昨日は東京で別のメンバーの週末道場がありまして、そちらに出席したりと色々と続きました。今日 東京でとんでもない時間にブログを書かないようにコメントを頂戴したばかりですが、目が覚めてしまったので書かせていただきます。（＾－＾）
弊社 四国支店 のセミナールームは私は初体験だったのですが、瀬戸内が窓の外に広がっている素敵な環境で皆様とお話できたのはものすごくいい体験でした。セミナーの途中で「虹が．．．」という松崎のマイクを通した独り言にはびっくりしましたが。。。
懇親会ではもう既にSharePointファームをNLB環境で利用されている方から負荷分散する際のご質問を頂戴したり、日々の運用の悩みを色々とお聞かせいただき、大変勉強になりました。そういうエリアの話をもっとできるように準備をさらにしてうまく行けばそういう話もWebcast化するなどしてお届けしたいなぁと考えました。
今週は北関東支店、高崎にお伺いします。
もうすぐ2008年です。皆さん師走で大変お忙しいとは思いますが、お体に気をつけてよい元旦が迎えられるように祈ってます。と昔 大晦日当番を何回もやっていた奥主より。(^O^)／

I'm sorry for late posting. The 4th Application Platform version of IT Pro Dojo was delivered on Friday. Thank you very much for people who attended today's seminar. I came back to Tokyo on Saturday and we had another Dojo on Sunday so I had many things to do this weekend. Well I got a comment not to write blogs late at night but I woke up in the middle of the night so I'm writing. :-)
It was my first time at the new Microsoft Japan's Shikoku office and seminar room. The Setonai-Kai(Inland sea of Japan) can be viewed from the room so it was a great experience talking to everybody. I was surprised when Tsuyoshi spoke through his microphone about the rainbow he saw outside the window... :-) (Check out the pictures above)
At the mini-party we do after the seminar, I had the chance to speak with a person who is already doing NLB with a SharePoint farm and was asked about NLB. Also I heard many issues everybody face in everyday system maintenance. I really would like to prepare more for those areas and if I can take the time, make those into webcasts.
Next stop is Kita-Kanto, Takasaki this week.
It's almost year 2008. Everybody must be very busy working in the last month of the year but I hope everybody takes care and you can spend a very nice New Year's Day. I remember when I was working on December 31st many times waiting for emergency calls. I know what it feels like if you're assigned this year :-) , take care!

At the IT Pro Dojo I've been doing recently, I have shown slides showing this campaign & program. The campaign web page is ready and went public today so I'd like to introduce it here.
TechNet Momentum Campaign Early Adoption trial program
This campaign is not just a campaign where you get a book for free. When you try out new products in the early stage, everyone gets stuck in the situation where there is not enough information to actually try the product and there is a pain in doing so and we understand it clearly. Well, the IT Pro Evangelists around the globe wanted to do something in this area to cure your pain and this program is for those people.
People who agree to share your tryout experience maybe as a post on an evangelist's blog or maybe it might be a concurrent article on TechNet Flash, we'd like to give you some benefit going thru this. The benefits will be access to non-public information about the new product/technology, technical support (a limited one though) and if your stage moves on you may get a free subscription of TechNet Direct. As you see, it is pretty powerful support if you engage with us. When we actually pick the one's to write blogs and articles, evangelists might visit your company and have discussions about your work and maybe we can directly help your efforts technically.

アプリケーション プラットフォーム編 開催第三回 大阪会場が終了しました。本日 ご参加いただいた皆様、本当にありがとうございます。今回は以前の IT Pro道場 への参加経験者の方が結構いらっしゃる状況での開催となりました。そして負荷分散を仕掛けた際のアプリケーション対応デモが今回は成功しました。ネットワーク負荷分散の設定もさることながらその上で手作りサンプルアプリケーションの状態を維持した動作を確保するところは過去2会場で惜しまれていた部分だけにかなり慎重に環境作りをしていたため、うまくお見せできて講師二人はホッとしております。
懇親会に残っていただいた方も多く、非常に有意義な情報交換をさせていただきました。
実は今日を迎えるにあたり環境面で大幅に手を入れたところがあります。今まではメモリを最大限に活用するために開発クライアントを Windows Vista のx64 環境に Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2 をインストールしていたのですが、タスクマネージャでも確認し、WOWで動作している状況が実は開発デモにベータ版故の色々な動作影響を考慮し、本日より実はx86 環境で構築し直しをしての本番でした。これがうまく当たって、Visual Studio 操作で詰まることもなく、うまく操作できる結果となりました。
またバッチを多く駆使したり、本日は事前準備した WCAT のデモも実施することができました。WCAT は説明していて再認識したんですが、Capacity Analysis、つまり開発Webファームの能力と本番相当機種の Web ファームでのサイジング検討をするための情報収集ツールとして使用したり、あるいはスループットの向上を安価（無償ですから）に簡易測定する上で利用することが得意なツールと言えます。一方でVisual Studioの負荷試験機能はWebアプリの操作を記録してそれをベースにトランザクションミックスを作成したかなり本気な負荷試験を行い、終了時にグラフが出たり、詳細なレポートが出たりとより高機能で、まさに開発中に高負荷で発生する問題を早め早めで対処することができる非常に優秀なツールと認識しました。
今後もどんどんクオリティアップを行い、最終的にきちんと部材を参加者の方には最新を順次提供させていただきます。
Pkgmgr.exe と ServerManagerCmd.exe の使い分け、実際にインストールするバッチの箇所では皆さんかなり興味を持っていただき、今まで私はIIS7のインストールでの紹介に留まっていましたが、Windows Vista や Windows Server 2008 環境で利用できる自動化要素として本格的に説明を始めました。皆さん画面をじっと見ておられるのが前からもすごく感じられ、うれしい限りです。
今週は次に高松にお伺いいたします。。。
大阪編：
大阪は本当に食が集まっているので食べたいもの多すぎなんですが、ちょっと若いころに阪急十三に縁があるもので、有名な「ねぎ焼」（焼きではなく、焼）とみたらしも今回は一人ではないので食べにいけました。一人だと準備も気になってどうしてもホテルに籠っちゃうんですよね。ねぎ焼の方は梅田にも店ができていて、そちらにも。
開催当日は会場近くの居酒屋へ。ここでの話題は「きずし」。メニューにさばきずしと書いてあって松崎が「さばき・ずし」と読んだとか読まなかったとか。（＾－＾）
[IT Pro Dojo] Thank you for attending , Osaka!
The third Application Platform version of IT Pro Dojo was delivered today. Thank you very much for people who attended today's seminar. There were many repeaters today who have attended previous Dojos. And thank god, today the Network Load Balancing setup and application fixing demo worked today! The NLB settings and ofcourse how to tune the application to be able to persist state for the session and context was THE DEMO everyone wanted to see in the previous events and we carefully checked the infrastructure the day before. We're really relieved that we were able to show the demo today.
Many people stayed to attend the party and there were many useful information sharing going on there.
Actually we made a big change in the demo environment from today. Until last time, in order to maximize the use of memory, the development client was Vista x64 + Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2 until Nagoya. We noticed that VS2008 on WOW mode is still a little unstable for demo since it is a Beta release and we went for 32 bit environment from today and this really worked for demo purpose.
Also we tried using many batch files to set things up along with explanation, and also I was able to demo the WCAT x86 tool. I realized while I was talking today that WCAT is really a Capacity Analysis tool that can be used to simply size the difference between development environment web farm throughput and what would be the production environment spec throughput in a very cheap way - it's free download from IIS.NET. On the otherhand, the load test feature of Visual Studio 2008 can record the real Web application actions and you can make a transaction mix combining those into a load test. As a result getting charts and nice reports making this a really good and pretty rich load test tool that can be used in early stages of development, finding issues when loaded as early as possible - more you do the better.
We're gonna make this seminar better & better, bring the quality up and in the end we'd really like to let attendees get all the stuff we've handmade for download.
How to use Pkgmgr.exe & ServerManagerCmd.exe, and the actual script used to install OS roles and features was a very popular explanation from my point of view since everyone was staring the screen cautiously. I've explained these in the context of IIS7 installation but from today, I expanded my explanation to application platform making this demo more real for OS feature installation on Windows Vista & Windows Server 2008.
