&lt;p&gt;It seems to me that the author&amp;#39;s intent is to show how PowerShell can be used to create hierarchical data without relying on the XML format.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;quot;Easily create XML-style data structures with PowerShell&amp;quot; would have been more accurate in my opinion.&lt;/p&gt;
