Summary: Use Windows PowerShell to display the current video configuration on your computer.

Hey, Scripting Guy! Question How can I use Windows PowerShell to display the current video configuration for my computer?

Hey, Scripting Guy! Answer Use WMI to query the Win32_VideoController class. Select the NameCurrentHorizontalResolution, and CurrentVerticalResolution properties. (In this example, I use wildcard characters to avoid typing the complete property names.)

Get-WmiObject win32_VideoController | select name, currentH*, currentv*

Sample output from my computer:

PS C:\> Get-WmiObject win32_VideoController | select name, currentH*, currentv*

name                         CurrentHorizontalResolution   CurrentVerticalResolution

----                         ---------------------------   -------------------------

NVIDIA Quadro K1000M                                1600                         900

Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000                           1920                        1080
