Hey, Scripting Guy! Question How can I use Windows PowerShell to return information about mice on my system?

Hey, Scripting Guy! Answer Query the Win32_PointingDevice WMI class. You can use the Get-WmiObject cmdlet, as shown here.

Get-WmiObject win32_pointingdevice

On Windows PowerShell 3.0, use the Get-CimInstance cmdlet, as shown here.

  • Hi Ed.

Could you explain me, what is difference between Get-WmiObject & Get-CimInstance?

    Thx.

Check out this post by Osama Sajid from Microsoft.  It provides some great insight on the CIM cmdlets and may answer some of the questions about the new features of those cmdlets.
