Hey, Scripting Guy! Question How can I get a listing of all the about_ conceptual Help files on my computer running Windows 8?

Hey, Scripting Guy! Answer Use the Get-Help cmdlet and search for about*, as shown here.

  • @JV yep, the count property exists on most objects --- and it makes it easy to find out the number of items in a collection ...

  • I was surprised to see that Win8 only gives a count of '1'.  I would have though it would come with more that tahe as a starter.

  • Philosophically this is an interesting question.

If you perform this on a new machine you will get an answer of one because you haven't updated help.

if you perform it post updating help the number can change depending on which modules you have explicitly loaded - for instance the ActiveDirectory module loads two or three about files

Just proves that the old IT reply of "it depends" still applies  :-)
