Thanks for all the responses with suggestions for other sushi restaurants in the Phoenix area! If I ever get out to Goodyear, I'll give Tomo's a shot. The same goes for Takamatsu.

On the sake comment, I don't drink, so I don't know how sushi is with alcohol, but I definitely know what it's like without. :-)

If you want good SUSHI there is a japanese place called TOMO'S in "Goodyear" look it up you will forget Benihana.

What about not having the right sake with sushi... I think several years ago we ate at Rock and Roll Sushi.. in Scottsdale... is it open... all the best..

But do they have white tuna [shiro maguro} ? Sushi without albacore is like drinking without alcohol. <w>

I'm not a sushi eater, but when I want good food, and lots of it, I head over to Takamatsu on Elliot/Arizona for Korean BBQ. They also serve Japanese cuisine and there is a sushi bar to boot. I always walk away stuffed. They have a few valley locations, but I've only been to the one in Chandler.
