We started a 4 part Webcast Series on Lync 2010 on Wednesday, June 15, 2011.  I worked with Byron Spurlock to deliver the entire series.  Here’s a quick background on Byron to start with.  He was with Microsoft Consulting Services and was quite focused on OCS deployments.  About a year ago, Byron decided to leave Microsoft and go on his own.  He has stayed focused on OCS / Lync with his new company and I would consider him a guru on this topic.  Hence why I worked with Byron to deliver this series.

I want to post all the questions and related answers from these webcasts so that everyone can see them.  With that, the first webcast only had one question and I have included it below along with the corresponding answer.

Question: Is not using Enterprise voice, is there really any reason to use SBAs or SBSs??

Answer: If you are not using Enterprise Voice, you do not need the Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA) or Survivable Branch Server (SBS).
