I needed to grab an ISO real quick from the TechNet Subscription download site this morning and what did I see? Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1!!!! Just for giggles and laughs, I also logged into my MSDN Subscriber portal to check that it was available there as well – and of course it was.
I immediately started the download process since it does take a few minutes to grab a 1.91 GB ISO file. If all goes well, I’ll be installing SP1 onto my production Windows 7 machine in about 30 minutes (taking into account time to burn the DVD)!! As soon as that finishes, I will be updating my Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V machine to start taking advantage of Dynamic Memory! That alone is worth the price!
For those of you who do not have a TechNet or MSDN Subscription, SP1 should be available sometime next week to the general public.
