Ok, so it has been almost 2 months since I last posted to my blog.  That really should have been only a month, but when I create posts in Live Writer and leave them in my Drafts without hitting Publish, they don't actually make it to the Blog site.  Crazy, right??  :-)

I had created a post that wished everyone a very Merry Christmas as well as one for a Happy New Years back in December and then on New Years day.  I'm about a month and a half late, but I hope everyone did have a great Christmas eating lots of food and spending time with their families.  Hopefully, you didn't party too hard on New Year's Eve but at the same time, you had a great time!

As many of you know, Microsoft did indeed announce a layoff that started on January 22nd and will include 5000 positions over the course of the next 18 months.  I received many emails from friends, family and customers asking if all was well with me and if I still had a job.  Since I haven't posted to my blog in such a long time, folks were assuming the worse.  I just wanted to let everyone know that I am indeed still gainfully employed by Microsoft.  Thanks to all for your emails and concerns!

The structure of my team (TechNet Events team of 12) has changed as the Microsoft Across America (MSAM) organization is no longer around, but resources realigned within different groups.  My team is now part of the US DPE (Developer and Platform Evangelism) team.  We are aligned on a regional basis with me, Chris Henley and Chris Avis reporting into the West Region DPE organization.  We are still IT Pro focused and are still holding TechNet Events in the Q3 (January - March) timeframe.  The number of events has decreased dramatically so make sure you catch the one in your town when (and if) it comes - www.technetevents.com

I will be focusing on Arizona, Southern California and hopefully New Mexico.  Chris Henley will focus on Utah, Colorado and Las Vegas.  Chris Avis will focus on Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Northern California.  If our geography mappings change, I will post an update later.

I really look forward to engaging online and in person with all the IT Pros in my geography and of course with everyone all over the world via my online activities.

  • Hope to see you in abq   mpwerner@fs.fed.us  used to be mpwerne@sandia.gov

  • Hi Harolad,

I am surprise if you are still alive even you and not posting regularly and neither replying emails, are you ok man?

  • I will indeed be covering New Mexico so I'll have to work on getting out to Albuquerque here before the end of our fiscal year (June 30).  As soon as I get something organized, I will post and let everyone know.

I will do my best to post something at least once a week if not more frequently.  In terms of not replying to emails, I have been.  Admittedly, I did get behind and just recently cleaned out my Junk E-Mail folder so I should be fairly caught up.  If anyone else sent me an email and didn't get a response from me, please send along again as I probably don't have it.
