Microsoft Corporation released the April Windows security updates today.

In addition to the Windows XP SP2 block expiring we released a critical update to tcpip.sys (Security Bulletin MS05-019 KB 893066).  The Windows XP SP2 version of this critical update includes the fix for the following article:

 

Programs that connect to IP addresses that are in the loopback address range may not work as you expect in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (KB 884020)

 

This should make life much easier on many customers and vendors who ship products which connect to loopback addresses other than 127.0.0.1.
