On behalf of the ECS team at Microsoft, I am pleased to announce the release of Hotfix Rollup 4 for Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server.

On December 5th Microsoft shipped Hotfix Rollup 4 for Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server (FPE). For a complete list of fixes included in this rollup, along with directions for download, please see our Knowledge Base article: Hotfix Rollup 4 for Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange.

As the installer runs, server service restarts may be necessary, so please plan accordingly when applying this hotfix rollup.

  • Is this cumulative update ?

  • Can someone update this link to reflect this new hot fix rollup?:

    technet.microsoft.com/.../ff899332.aspx

Also any word on when Forefront Security for OCS SP1 will ship? It was supposed to be by end of the year and that is approaching fast. Without it we can't protect our Lync 2010 servers.

  • You can find the hotfix rollups for FS OCS here:

Another update is forthcoming, but I don't know an exact release date.

  • Martin,

    Yes. The rollup is cumulative.

  • Hello Ross,

I scanned the kb article that is referenced above (support.microsoft.com/.../2619883) and I do not see any product enhancements and new features as mentioned in the article - only issues that are fixed in tis rollup.  Can you provde a link to the "new features and enhancements included in this rollup"  ?

    Thanks

    Sam

  • Hi Sam,

That's the nature of hotfix. We shouldn't expect any new features and enhancements.

    Patrick

  • Valles,

That would normally make sense but thats not what the announcement in this blog says. Did you read it?

    Sam

  • Hello Rob McCarthy,

The announcement above states 'Microsoft shipped (RU4) to provide a series of product enhancements and new features. For a complete list of the new features and enhancements included in this rollup, ....

Is that correct or not ?  If so can you please point us to the list of "new features and enhancements"

    Thanks

    Sam

  • Hi All,

The verbiage in the blog will be updated to specify what exactly will be provided within the hotfix.

My apologies if the phrase "new features" led to any confusion. It was a poor choice of words and will be corrected ASAP.

For the record, FPE RU4 contains product fixes and enhancements. The KB details exactly what the rollup provides in its entirety.

    Rob

  • Hello Rob McCarthy,

You posted today "For the record, FPE RU4 contains product fixes and enhancements".  The KB article (2619883) that was referenced in this blog lists several product fixes but the KB article does not identify anything as an enhancement.  Can you please provide a link to what those enhancements in RU4 are?

    Thank You

    Sam

  • I took out the verbiage about enhancements to make it more clear. Have a good one.

  • Tony,

Thanks for confirming that there are no enhancements in RU4.  :-)

    Sam

  • What are the chances that this will work with Exchange 2013?

  • Exchange 2013 will have it's own built in ant-malware component: technet.microsoft.com/.../jj150547(v=exchg.150).aspx

...replacing the need for a seperate Forefront installation.
