Each week, we bring you new app recommendations from our colleagues. This week’s Thursday Staff App Pick comes from Jeff Meisner, Senior Manager of Corporate Blogs, Microsoft.
I’m a big moviegoer and the parent of a one-year-old boy, so I have to be a lot more nimble than I used to be when it comes to jumping on the increasingly rare windows of opportunity to go catch a flick. The Fandango app for Windows Phone helps me do that.
All the information I need to find the movie I want and to buy tickets is right there at my fingertips, so when my wife says, “The baby’s asleep. You’ve got a two-hour window to go see that silly movie about the dwarves and the dragon,” (“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”), I’m ready to go.
The Fandango app’s GoNow feature helps me find movies playing within the hour in my local area and search, browse alphabetically or view “Opening This Week” and “Top Box Office” lists. I can also discover upcoming movies in the app’s “Advance Tickets” and “Featured” lists. I can even pin my favorite theater to my Start screen for quick access.
Another one of the app’s great features: reading both Fandango fan ratings and reviews as well as reviews from professional movie critics. I can also watch movie trailers, read exclusive interviews and glance at cast photos.
The Fandango app is free and available for download in the Windows Phone Store now.
