Each week, we bring you new app recommendations from our colleagues. This week’s Tuesday Staff App Pick comes from Denny Boynton, a senior technical evangelist at Microsoft.
Several years ago, I became a “foodie.” The more I learned about cooking, the more I enjoyed it. I tended toward gourmet meals. It didn’t take long before I began to realize that pairing a dish with the perfect wine added as much to the eating experience as whisking up the perfect cream sauce.
As such, Thumbs Up WineFinder for Windows has become an app I use every time I’m at the grocery or liquor store. The app is nicely laid out and very intuitive to use. I love the ability to search for different types of wine and food pairings, as well as the right wine to bring to a party or to purchase as a gift. I can even filter by the name of the store I happen to be in when I’m shopping to make sure they carry it on their shelves. The video reviews are also extremely helpful.
Finally, let’s talk about the bottom line: Dollars. The fact that I can enter all the above-mentioned criteria and say, “I don’t want to spend more than $20 on this bottle,” is fantastic. Whether you’re a sommelier or just enjoy the occasional glass of wine with your friends, Thumbs Up WineFinder is the perfect tool to find the perfect bottle of wine for every occasion.
Thumbs Up WineFinder is available in the Windows Store now.
