Earlier this month, Lync 2013 added a new accreditation to the fold by achieving JITC certification for Voice, Video, and Instant Message & Presence (IM&P) at the Joint Interoperability Testing Center in Fort Huachuca, Ariz.

Becoming JITC certified is one of the primary ways of validating software’s ability to work and interoperate on the DoD’s Defense Information Switched Network (DISN).

On Wednesday, Microsoft announced it is participating in a cross-industry coalition dedicated to the creation of an effective European unitary patent system.
“It’s truly a unique coalition: 14 global innovators and users of the European patent system, who are in many cases fierce competitors, plus two associations representing another 25 innovative companies in the technology sector, have been working collaboratively for several months to suggest solutions that support the creation of an effective, balanced and harmonized Europe-wide patent system,” writes Microsoft Deputy General Counsel and Corporate Vice President Horacio Gutierrez in a blog post over on Microsoft on the Issues.
Developers can use the tool to automate how they test frameworks and libraries across browsers. It’s powered through the cloud, allowing developers to save precious server resources as well as time not having to set up multiple browser or device testing environments.
In August, the Windows Phone team introduced the Windows Phone App Studio beta – a new, simple tool to help developers kick-start building apps for the Windows Phone platform. The tool received an overwhelming response, with more than 30,000 projects started in the first 48 hours.
