Ross, can you comment a little bit on the CAS Array, there is some chatter on various forums about the lack of a CAS Array in Exchange 2013, and that any references to a CAS Array are merely updated references to Exchange 2010. Does Exchange 2013 have a CAS Array or not?

Thanks for this good post about the new server role architecture. Is there a Microsoft Layer 4 Load Balancer product/server role that can be used in this configuration? I believe the Microsoft Network Load Balancing (NLB) is an L2/L3 solution. What is software, product, appliance, hardware is Microsoft using for load balancing there Exchange 2013 CAS farms?

Breaking the link between the CAS and the AD site hosting the active mailbox copy is, in my humble opinion, a huge breakthrough in reducing the overall complexity of deploying a multi-datacenter HA solution for Exchange. Removing the session affinity requirement is huge in reducing CAS Array design complexity as well. I did have a question, though: You Mention that RPC is no longer used. What protocol is being used in it's place? I assume it to be https, but, would like to know for sure. Also, how does that affect sites that are running older Outlook clients? Excellent progression, please keep up the good work!
