Mixing physical and virtual servers in a DAG is possible and supported. The physical server and virtual server in this case do not need to be identical (not CPU, disk, RAM, etc.).

What you must keep in mind is that if there is a failure scenario of some sort, the virtual machine must be engineered to support the load expected of it. In other words, if you have a two-node DAG with one physical and one virtual, and the physical server requires 16 cores, then the virtual machine which is limited to 4 or possibly 8 cores will probably not support the necessary load in a failure scenario.

I have a more basic doubt, I want to set an scenario with a physcal exchange multi-role server and other virtual multi-role exchange server,
- Is that possible?
- It will be mandatory to have same disk space on both servers physical and virtual?

To mhess2010, I don't know if there is a best practice guide to automating updates to a DAG server. I think you can script things out to do the failovers in the appropriate order and such, but I haven't seen the processes documented.

Is there a "Best Practice Guide" how to handle Windows Updates with WSUS and a DAG (mailbox role only) and HT/CAS array servers?

'Activation Block Server 3' means to stop all the databases on 'Server3' from automatically activating in the event of a failover, as you'll be patching.
