In order to make it easier for you to find information and move about the Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE) TechNet Library documentation, we would like to make you aware of some re-structuring within the TechNet Library. Of course we will continue to update and enhance the technical product information that we provide about FOPE, but this particular refresh included more than the average topic improvements.

Why did we do this?

We’ve been gradually improving your information and its structure to order to make it easier for you to learn about, start and maintain FOPE. It’s our hope that the current format more closely matches our docs with the tasks that you perform. For example, in the Setup and Provisioning section, we added information and improved the set-up checklist. We also moved information about technical support and navigation so that it’s combined with more-closely related tasks. Furthermore, we wanted to make it easier for you to compare and integrate FOPE information with Exchange Server information, so we incorporated some traditional Exchange documentation styles.

What was done?

  • Consolidated several topics into just one if there was an entire page for just one or two sentences.
  • Grouped together topics that contained similar or related information.
  • Rewrote topic titles for clarity, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and better alignment with Exchange Server terms. In many cases we revised the content within the topics as well.

What’s next?

We expect to continue updating the FOPE documentation with new technical information as necessary and responding to your feedback too. One recent example of this includes the clarifications about enabling the HIPAA policy filter based on questions submitted through the TechNet feedback system. We invite your feedback about the FOPE documentation and encourage you to use the TechNet star-rating system to rate topics and give feedback. Look for this near the upper right corner of each page in the TechNet Library and use it to let us know what you think:

When you click a star there to rate a topic, we’ll see whatever you type in the pop-up feedback box. There are also a variety of community sites in which we encourage you to ask questions, provide information, and interact with other FOPE users:
