The very first whitepaper for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 Performance and Scalability has been released.
This paper focuses on highlighting the scalability that can be achieved in terms of concurrent users, big data and feature functionality.
This paper reflects the scalability and performance achieved on a specific Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 implementation running on a particular test environment. Factors ranging from specific customizations deployed by enterprise organizations to geographic distribution of users can affect how enterprise organizations use the CRM system, so results will vary for each implementation. Customers might be able to achieve higher levels of performance by fine-tuning or optimization.
Also note that this benchmark focuses on server-side performance and metrics. The response times reported here are for the clients in a laboratory environment without network latency and bandwidth constraints and client-side rendering time that clients might face when they are connected remotely. As a result, response times here are in no way indicative of client responsiveness that might be seen when rendering in a browser.
This paper is very insightful as it covers all the aspect starting from Hardware Environment and Specifications, Enterprise Organization Structure, Testing Methodology, Business unit structure with user distribution, User Data, Transaction Workload, Test Scenarios, Tuning and Optimization, Test Results, Effects Of Hardware Configuration on Performance, and Benchmarking Results Comparison Charts Between Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013.
The document can be downloaded from here.
Hope this helps.
January 11th will mark the initial step in a series of updates to both PartnerSource and CustomerSource. Find out more about some of the features and approach we’re taking to improve your online experience.
The Next Generation PartnerSource you’ll see starting January 11th 2014 is an initial step in a series of steps to improve the partner experience. We wanted to get the new site in front of you as soon as possible, so we focused on making core changes to how you navigate and search the site, with an exciting lineup of changes that will follow soon. We’re far from finished, and we’ll deliver more and more capability to you over a number of releases throughout 2015 and 2014.
Our emphasis in January will focus on moving both PartnerSource and CustomerSource to SharePoint 2013 – a platform we’ll now use to evolve the customer and partner experience rapidly over the next 2 years so that we can deliver the most useful content and business capabilities to you. After the initial January launch, you’ll see a number of incremental releases in 2014 that focus on improving how you do business with Dynamics. From updates to VOICE, to more integration across the Microsoft Partner Network site (MPN), our goal is to continue to provide a better experience around managing your customers, preparing your sales and marketing staff, getting support, getting trained, and assessing your business performance. We’ll also plan on being a lot more agile, delivering capabilities more frequently, across both PartnerSource and CustomerSource.
In moving to SharePoint, we took the opportunity to do a number of things – add a new look and feel to the site, update navigation, improve search and discoverability of content, and integrate the social capabilities of Dynamics Community. Here’s a brief summary of the changes you’ll expect to see on day 1:
Windows 8 Design When you first come into the PartnerSource homepages, you’ll notice that the site is redesigned around Windows 8 design principles. The PartnerSource homepage focuses on delivering key, rotating messages that will change frequently (called “Hero” spots). We use tiles across the site to show useful information, and draw attention to the most important things we want you to consider.
It’s important to note that applications like VOICE, and other data-intensive applications throughout PartnerSource, are on our roadmap for UI improvements later in 2014. All of this work brings us a step closer to delivering a better mobile experience, which we’ll be looking to deliver in 2015.
My Messages My Messages functionality is an important area for your partner business as well as Microsoft, and it’s a key part of the PartnerSource homepage experience. We’ve leveraged Windows 8 live tiles to make the information more prominent and useful. You can continue to use My Messages to see information on your own company’s partner service plans, as well as your customer’s plans. If you’re an individual who’s part of multiple partner organizations, you can also choose the partner organization whose customers you want to see in My Messages. As we get later into 2014, integrating VOICE with your experience – similar to My Messages – will be an approach we’ll take with the rest of VOICE capabilities.
Navigation There are two levels of navigation you’ll notice. Top level navigation contains general categories that will be available throughout your site experience, and focus on business areas important to both Microsoft and Partners. The categories and subcategories in this navigation are largely based on input from over 100 partner organizations based on how they do business with Microsoft.
In addition, we provide navigation on the left side of a homepage which will change based on where you’re at in the site. In the PartnerSource Homepage, you’ll notice the navigation takes you to deeper product homepages, where you can find sales, marketing and deployment information more specific for that product. In other areas of the site – such as the Support homepage – this navigation will provide deeper context around support downloads, community forums, and so on.
Connecting you to Dynamics business decision makers All throughout PartnerSource, you can give feedback at any place throughout the experience. If there’s confusion, questions or additional insight about a program or set of information, we’re sharing that information directly with business managers in Dynamics. You’ll be able to optionally leave your email contact information with us so if you’d like follow up from someone in the Dynamics business, we’ll be able to do that.
Finding what you’re looking for There are over 20,000 documents in PartnerSource when you consider sales and marketing, pricing and licensing, operations, support, training, eLearning and Knowledgebase. Anyone who’s used PartnerSource knows that sorting through all of that is difficult. With SharePoint search (formerly FAST search), we’re leveraging the native abilities to make search results much more relevant.
And not only will your search yield better results, we’re also including results from the Dynamics Community site, so you can find answers in technical forums, or in user blogs, as well as improved results from the Microsoft Knowledgebase system and our online eLearning. In upcoming releases, we’ll expand search to include Dynamics-specific results from MSDN, TechNet, Microsoft Partner Network and other sources important to how you run your Dynamics business.
In addition to an improved full text search, we’re using the search as an organizing principle throughout the site for displaying and sorting lists of content. You’ll see lots of ways of browsing for what you want, in highly intuitive ways. When you browse lists of content, it’s simple to filter for the kind of information you’re browsing for, as well as by product and version.
There will be times where you not only need to find something, but learn from others who may have done the same thing. We’ve embedded connections throughout the search experience where you can quickly submit a question to a product-specific forum and connect with a Dynamics MVP, support professional or another Community user to get details about how they may have completed a similar activity.
Geographic relevance We’ve created 8 regionally-specific sites for PartnerSource – Australia / New Zealand, Denmark, France, Germany, Latin America, North America, Spain, and the United Kingdom. We recommend you leverage one of these regionally specific sites where possible. On day one, partners in countries that don’t use English as a primary language may not see 100% of content available in their local language. Where possible, we’ll serve up local language content, but augment that with relevant English results.
If your business isn’t located in one of the main PartnerSource country areas noted above, we also have a global site that contains geographically relevant information to all partners across the world.
The default experience when you first come to PartnerSource will be the North American site. From there, you can choose the country site you want to use, and save that site URL as a favorite so you can continue to gain access to region specific messaging and content.
I hope this would benefit the partners and give them a brand new feel of PartnerSource access.
A version of Management Reporter that supports the German XBRL taxonomy is now available for download at
https://mbs.microsoft.com/customersource/downloads/MRlocalizations.htm.
This version allows German customers using Dynamics AX 2012 or 2009 to meet the “E-Bilanz” requirements for filing their balance sheet and profit and loss statement.
Benefits of using Management Reporter for German XBRL filing include:
The following graphic documents the typical XBRL process.
Dynamics AX customers using Management Reporter for German XBRL support will see these changes in the Management Reporter solution:
Please see the series of articles which has been written by by CPM team on how to use the German XBRL features.

One of the challenges that management and auditors face is obtaining accurate data in a usable format following a repeatable process. Seeking to increase audit efficiency, the AICPA’s Assurance Services Executive Committee’s Emerging Assurance Technologies Task Force developed voluntary, uniform audit data standards to help address this challenge.
While collaborating with the AICPA, Microsoft has developed a demo of how Dynamics ERP customers can use Management Reporter to help share their data with their auditor, following the Audit Data Standards.
The following video walks you through an example, using Microsoft technologies to ensure that the collaboration is secure at all levels. This solution can be implemented for Dynamics AX, Dynamics GP or Dynamics SL. We’ve also included suggestions on how to use features in Management Reporter to make the process easily repeatable each month. And, the process can be implemented by the Finance Department, not requiring technology requests into IT.
Before you watch the video, please note that the accountant would already have set up a few things in Management Reporter:
You can view more details of this in the video below.
Microsoft Dynamics and AICPA Audit Standards
Collaborate securely
As you saw in the video, we’ve suggested using a password encrypted Microsoft Excel file, posted to a secure Microsoft SkyDrive location that has been shared with your auditor. SkyDrive also allows you to set up an alert to notify the auditor when a new file is available. Keep in mind that you do have alternatives to using SkyDrive, such as directly emailing the encrypted Excel file or posting it to an FTP site.
Download Management Reporter templates
Attached below are the Management Reporter templates that map to the Audit Data Standards. These templates will help you create the files for the AICPA General Ledger standards. The templates can be updated to include data for your company, such as your specific chart of accounts. The templates for Dynamics AX and Dynamics GP are slightly different, due to variances in the GL data structures in each product.
The CPM team has blogged about this in the article below.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dynamicscpm/archive/2013/10/22/drilling-back-to-microsoft-dynamics-with-management-reporter-web-viewer.aspx
Getting to information quickly is necessary when making business decisions. With the Management Reporter web viewer, not only can you drill down to the individual transactions, you can also drill back in your Microsoft Dynamics ERP. Once in Microsoft Dynamics, you are then able to view invoices and source document information to help provide additional context to transactions.
You can drill back with the web viewer for the following Microsoft Dynamics ERP versions:

This is a series of articles which have been posted by the CPM team which explains about the currency translation capabilities in Management Reporter for Dynamics AX 2012. This is a functionality which is available in Management Reporter CU7.
You can get details of these articles from the links below.
At the Microsoft Dynamics GP Technical Airlift in September we showed the extended value proposition of Microsoft Dynamics GP "IN" Microsoft Office 365 and "ON" Microsoft Azure.
To help our partners show this value we have provided pre-built dashboards that can be used to create a Microsoft Office 365 Team Site for Microsoft Dynamics GP. When demoing Microsoft Dynamics GP you should also consider deploying SRS and Excel Reports to Microsoft Office 365 to show the "IN" story. This is the first iteration of a concept that we will be enhancing in the future.
Please download and show the dashboards to differentiate yourselves with the "One Business Solution from Microsoft" story.
You can download this dashboard template with instructions from the link below.
https://mbs.microsoft.com/partnersource/downloads/releases/mdgp2013_dashboards.htm
Management Reporter CU7 included many new capabilities that provide for strong integrations to Dynamics AX. To make it even easier for Dynamics AX customers to take advantage of these features, Management Reporter can now be installed directly from within Dynamics AX setup.
The streamlined setup supports either new Dynamics AX implementations as well as adding Management Reporter to an in-progress or existing implementation. The benefits of this integrated approach to installation include:

I hope this helps the community…
The New Business Analyzer is available on the Windows 8 App Store. There are several new features that were added to Business Analyzer, plus we have more we are planning to add in the first half of 2014. This app will become a hub for people who are either casual users of Dynamics GP or don't even have access.
There is a single end point that all of our apps will connect to. You install the service on your server, so the app will talk to this service. This is a change from the old business analyzer that had a direct SRS connection. The strategy around this is when you have other apps that we release or and ISV creates now they can point to the same service. The end user only needs to know the link to the service and then the service knows about everything else making it easy for users to setup.

In this article I will provide the steps required to be completed in order to set up Bing Maps in Dynamics CRM 2013.
If the Bing map key is not entered correctly you end up with the following message on each Bing map "The specified credentials are invalid. You can sign up for a free developer account at https://www.bingmapsportal.com", as you see in the screenshot below.
Please follow the steps outlined below in order to create a Bing Maps trial key.
Open Internet Explorer and access the URL https://www.bingmapsportal.com . Once the page opens, you would notice an option to login using your Live ID.
Once you enter your Live ID and login, the system would take you to the portal home page, with an announcement displayed. Ignore the announcement.
Click on the link called “Create or View Links” under My Accounts. It would open the form to create a new key.
Enter the required details and click on the Submit button to generate the new key.
Once the keys are generated, you can view the keys from the same page at the bottom.
Once the keys are generated, you can go to CRM Settings window (Settings >> Administration >> System Settings) and go to the General Tab.
You will notice a section called “Enable Bing Maps”, under which you can copy-paste the Bing Maps trial key which you have generated.
Alternatively you can always switch off the Bing map feature on the form by setting the "Show Bing Maps on forms" value to "No".

This blog post gives step by step procedures to integrate Dynamics CRM 2011/CRM online with NAV 2013.
Note: Download the connector setup and installation guide from links mentioned in the last section.
Prerequisites
Microsoft Dynamics CRM
Create two Windows Live ID accounts for CRM online or two user accounts for Dynamics CRM on premise for following types of users:
Setup Dynamics NAV to enable Data Synchronization
Installation and configuration
Run the setup, click next.
Give the name of your Dynamics NAV SQL server
Provide administrator account credentials for NAV/System
Click to install.
It will start to install dynamics connector.
You will reach finish screen, if everything goes fine.
You need to install the ConnectorForMicrosoftDynamicsNav solution in your CRM organization to enable CRM instance to support NAV data integration. Follow the steps mentioned below:
1. Log on to an organization in Microsoft Dynamics CRM as an administrator.
2. In the navigation pane, go to Settings > Customization > Solutions. Click Import.
3. Browse to the Connector installation directory (\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\Microsoft Dynamics Adapter).
4. Select the ConnectorForMicrosoftDynamicsNav.zip solution file. Click Open.
5. Click Next. When the Solution Information is displayed, a message might be displayed that warns of a version mismatch. Click Next.

Note that the user given here integration user we have already created.
Click on test settings, after you see a success message click on link to configuration utility.
You will see a screen like this.
The configuration settings will take the URL automatically, just give username (here use administrator credentials) and password and click on Get organizations. You should be able to get the organization name in the highlighted area in which you want to implement the integration as shown in the screenshot.
Finish the CRM configuration utility wizard and click on Microsoft Dynamics NAV in the adapter settings as shown below.
Credentials to be used are mentioned here:
Domain: Enter your Windows domain.
User Name: Enter your Windows user name or alias.
Password: Enter your domain password.
URL: http://localhost:7047/DynamicsNAV/WS/
(Note: In some cases we might face errors in connecting the NAV and it fails, try giving server IP address in place of localhost in the URL as shown in screenshot below)
This is the success message screen
Give the credentials and select the Dynamics NAV Organization.
Select the entities you want to enable for integration.
After the process is finished click in create new integration. Give the details as given in the below screenshot.
Now you can start creating new maps.
Make sure that you create necessary maps first. Have a look at the installation guide for more information.
After the Connector for Microsoft Dynamics is installed and the adapters are configured, data needs to be synchronized between Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft Dynamics NAV before you can run integrations on a regular schedule.
Verify that the customizations have been deployed as outlined in the Basic installation section, to check this create one entity record and see if you are able to see the submit button on the ribbon as highlighted in the screenshot below.
The Connector for Microsoft Dynamics is designed to integrate data between Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Dynamics CRM in the following scenarios:
Data could exist in one or both applications. You must synchronize this data prior to running the integration on a regular schedule.
Now you are done with the integration, schedule the Data synchronization process and validate the data.

The most awaited Windows 8.1 update has been released!
Windows 8.1 brings a variety of new features and improvements to Windows 8 that we think people will really enjoy. We listened to your feedback and are delivering many of the improvements you asked for.
If you are a consumer with a Windows 8 device, you can now download the free update to Windows 8.1 online through the Windows Store*. Please visit Windows.com for everything you need to know including how to get the update for your Windows 8 device. If you are a consumer on a device running Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, or the Windows 8.1 Preview – this page on Windows.com will detect your OS and provide you with all the information you need in order to get Windows 8.1 on your device. I also highly recommend reading our FAQ which answers many of the most common questions about getting Windows 8.1.
Starting tomorrow October 18th, Windows 8.1 will also be available on new devices and as packaged DVD product at retail locations around the world. You can also click here to learn about the wide variety of new Windows devices available now and coming throughout the holiday season to find the one that best fits their needs, and their budget.
To celebrate the new Windows, starting today for the next 8 days – we will pick 810 (see what we did there?) random winners per day who tweet and share their new Start screen after updating their Windows 8 device to Windows 8.1 with the #MyStart hashtag.
There has been a lot of talk about the new features in Windows 8.1 since the Build conference last June but I think it’s worth reiterating the awesomeness that Windows 8.1 brings to your device.
Start the way you want. The Start screen in Windows 8.1 is more customizable than ever with new tile sizes, new background designs and colors – allowing you to make the Start screen on your device unique and personal to you (you should see some of the color combinations I’ve come up with for my Start screen!). You can also choose how you start your Windows experience – at the Start screen or the desktop. The Start button is back. And there is an improved Apps view that allows you to see all your apps the way you want.
Multi-tasking is even better in Windows 8.1 – you can now have up to four apps side by side with flexible windows sizing for each app on the screen. At a minimum, I usually have 3 apps snapped side by side on my devices doing various things like email, listening to music and browsing the web. We have also improved multi-monitor support in Windows 8.1 allowing users to view their desktop or apps from the Windows Store on any or all their monitors.
Bing Smart Search is the easiest way to find what you are looking for and to get things done. Built for touch, swipe or type from the Start screen and Smart Search will find what you need – whether it’s a document on your PC, a photo album in the cloud, your favorite app, or a website.
Windows 8.1 comes with new and improved Microsoft apps and services – available right out of the box and right from your Start screen. Skype is there for instant messaging and catching up with friends and family. We’ve updated the Mail app (well, more like over-hauled) to make email easier – for both personal and email and work email. Two new Bing apps are introduced in Windows 8.1 called Food & Drink and Health & Fitness along with updates to the News, Weather, Finance, Travel and Sports apps. Xbox Music has received a big update for Windows 8.1, and you can watch TV and movies with Xbox Video. And Windows 8.1 comes with Internet Explorer 11which is optimized for touch and brings speed boosts and synchronized browsing history, favorites, and settings across all of your Windows 8.1 devices.
Speaking of synchronizing – Windows 8.1 also comes with deep and improved cloud integration with SkyDrive. Your files are always accessible across all your devices. With SkyDrive smart files, you can create, edit, save and share files anywhere, anytime and your files are always with you, both on and offline.
And the Windows Store has been redesigned in Windows 8.1. With the “New & Rising” section it is now easier to stay on top of the hottest and newest apps to hit the Windows Store. Plus, the Windows Store has a live tile too! The Windows Store will also now provide you with personalized recommendations – powered by Bing. And apps are now updated from the Windows Store automatically by default so you will always have the best and newest versions of your apps. Look for new and updated apps including Adobe Photoshop Express, Box, Evernote, Facebook, Hulu Plus, Netflix, and NOOK, for Windows 8.1. And more to come!
Windows 8.1 will also bring some very innovative new devices for both consumers and businesses from tablets and 2-in-1s with a perfect mix of mobility and productivity, to new laptops, All-in-Ones and specialized industry devices Windows 8.1 brings the widest selection of designs at every price point. I’ll be blogging more about many of these devices over the next few weeks as they become available, so you can find and experience a device that is truly an extension of you.
Windows 8.1 represents collaboration across the entire company. Over the last three days, we’ve featured guest blog posts from our friends at Skype, Xbox, Bing, SkyDrive, and Internet Explorer that discusses in the connected experience that Windows 8.1 brings together.
And now you can enjoy the results of this work today. So get your device updated! And be sure to share those Start screens.
Performance improvements and key suggestions on Connector V3 deployments are the primary new features in Connector for Microsoft Dynamics V3 CU1 (3.1.116.2), which was posted today for download.
Additional new features with this release include:
To download this release for your Microsoft Dynamics ERP system, go to CustomerSource:
Would you like to know more? Check out the User Guide for your ERP system and begin your installation preparation. I know, I know; reading documentation can be arduous. But you know what they say: an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. So read the provided documentation to avoid the common mistakes and save yourself the support call. The user guides for all of the ERPs have been updated for this release and all include a V3 upgrade sections that you should be familiar with before upgrading your existing integrations. All of the known issues documents have been updated as well so please have a look at those too, they can all be found on the Connector for Microsoft Dynamics download pages.
Note: This release includes an update to the MSDI database that will mean any custom objects you have added to the database will be dropped, however this update will greatly improve the performance of the overall Connector system.
This is an interesting script which I have decided to post in this article.
When we configure CRM Connector with Dynamics GP for the sample company (Fabricam, Inc.,), there is a known issue in the way the sample company data is structured.
As many of you would be aware of, the sample company data has a date stamp in the year 2017. Because of this, when the Connector maps are activated, the sample data gets integrated and the “Check for data modified after” gets updated to the date as per the date stamp, which will be a date in the year 2017.
And when we add any new records into the sample company, this data does not get integrated as the DEX_ROW_TS field (date stamp) for the new records will be the current date and the Connector integration ignores these records as it checks for data only added/modified after the date in the year 2017 as per the original sample data integration.
You can modify the “Check for data modified after” property for the integrations to the current date and time, but it will check for the data in the year 2017 and get updated back to 2017. This is because the sample company’s data resides with the date stamp of 2017.
I have written a simple script which will update the DEX_ROW_TS in all Dynamics GP tables to the current date and time. This script can be run in both the system database and the company database.
SQL Script for this purpose:
DECLARE @TableName VARCHAR(15) DECLARE @DateStamp DATETIMEDECLARE @SQLString VARCHAR(255)
SET @DateStamp = GETDATE()
DECLARE crTables CURSOR FOR select name from sys.objects where type = 'U' ORDER by name
OPEN crTables
FETCH NEXT FROM crTables INTO @TableName
WHILE @@FETCH_STATUS = 0 BEGIN IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.columns WHERE TABLE_NAME = @TableName AND COLUMN_NAME = 'DEX_ROW_TS') BEGIN SET @SQLString = 'UPDATE dbo.' + LTRIM(RTRIM(@TableName)) + ' SET DEX_ROW_TS = ''' + CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), @DateStamp, 120) + '''' EXECUTE(@SQLString)
END FETCH NEXT FROM crTables INTO @TableName END
CLOSE crTables
DEALLOCATE crTables
Note: Make sure you have a valid backup of the system and company databases before running this script.
I hope this script will be useful for all those who are trying to test CRM Connector for Dynamics GP using the sample company. I have attached this script at the end of the article.
