Prepare for the VAT change (effective on the first of october)
De btw-verhoging van 19 naar 21 procent gaat al per 1 oktober 2012 in. Dat maakte de minister van Financiën op vrijdag 27 april bekend. Voorwaarde is dat zowel de Tweede als de Eerste kamer akkoord gaan met de btw-verhoging en het voorstel voor de invoeringsdatum van de btw-verhoging.

This documentation release represents a change in how we document and release developer reference documentation going forward. The content live on MSDN was generated from xml comments from our POS source code.
Background:
In previous releases of Dynamics AX for Retail our POS SDK contained a .pdf file that was hand crafted to talk about the Service and Triggers API that developers could use to extend our POS.
Now that we are on MSDN we can get direct feedback from our users (was this helpful yes/no on every page) and our community can start to add code samples and tips directly to the MSDN content.

INTRODUCTION
Electronic communication with the Dutch Tax administration is based on trusted connections using Digital Certificates. In 2011 an incident has occurred with Diginotar, one on the Certificate Authorities (CA), resulting in a situation that an infiltrator was able to create new certificates on his own for every random domain. This made the whole certificate-based environment unsecure and required facilities to make sure that trusted digital communication remains possible in the future.
The Dutch Tax administration evaluated the different existing communication channels and decided to phase out one of these channels: BAPI-PIN. It has also been decided to no longer use Diginotar certificates but to give KPN (Getronics) the role as the Certificate Service Provider (CSP) for the future.
SUBMITTING VAT AND ICP DECLARATIONS USING MICROSOFT DYNAMICS AX
You can choose to submit VAT and or ICP to the Dutch Tax Authority by manually filling in a web form (www.belastingdienst.nl). There is a limit however for the ICP declaration. The website allows a maximum of 99 lines to be entered manually. An ICP Declaration report can be printed from Microsoft Dynamics AX to use as a guideline.
Microsoft Dynamics AX supports the BAPI PIN channel electronic communication. It does not support the BAPI PKI method!
PIN is the public key method used within the Microsoft Dynamics AX community. For this method you only need the certificates from the Tax authorities and CSP. To get these you have to fill in the form ‘Electronic tax declaration parameters’ and click the button ‘Get certificates’. The certificates for the PIN method can be acquired at no cost.
TIMELINE
With respect to BAPI PIN the following timeline has been set by the Tax authorities (latest communication in Feb 2012):
BAPI PIN: will be phased out by 1-1-2013 for all process flows (VAT, ICP, etc)
MICROSOFT DYNAMICS AX AND BAPI PIN
In order to continue using BAPI PIN until 2013 you will need to change the certificate settings to KPN before July 2012.
Change the following settings in General Ledger / Setup / Sales Tax / Netherlands / Electronic tax declaration parameters:
Make sure you have no ongoing declarations.

We are pleased to announce that Microsoft will now sign a Data Processing Agreement (DPA), the EU’s model clauses (EUMC) and a business associate agreement (BAA). These supplemental contracts will help customers certify compliance with key industry standards, such as the European Commission’s Data Protection Directive, and the U.S.-mandated Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
What are the DPA, BAA and EUMC?
EU Model Clauses (EUMC) are a set of stringent European Union wide data protection requirements. EUMC help to assure customers that appropriate steps have been taken to help safeguard personal data, even if data is stored in a cloud-based service center located outside the European Economic Area.
The Data Processing Agreement (DPA) addresses privacy, security and handling of Customer Data. Microsoft’s DPA goes above and beyond the EU Model Clauses to address additional requirements from individual EU member states. The DPA may also be used by non-EU countries to help them comply with standards in their jurisdiction.
HIPAA is a U.S. law that requires entities to meet certain privacy and security standards with respect to individually identifiable health information. To help customers comply with HIPAA, Microsoft offers a BAA, which assures adherence to certain privacy and security requirements. The BAA covers Protected Health Information (PHI) and has a provision requiring Security incident notification within 30 days of unauthorized access.

In response to requests from partners and customers, Zetadocs Express now integrates with SharePoint 2010, as well as Office 365’s SharePoint Online. Zetadocs Express allows users to drag & drop files and emails onto records in Microsoft Dynamics NAV, storing copies in SharePoint with links back. Documents such as invoices can be emailed directly from Microsoft Dynamics NAV and automatically stored in SharePoint.

The benchmark demonstrated a sustained rate of more than 741,587 lines per hour for these concurrent scenarios. With this concurrent workload, a 48-core, 256-gigabyte (GB) database server sustained 55-percent CPU utilization; two 12-core, 16-GB AOS servers sustained 57-percent CPU utilization; ten 8–12 core, 16-GB Enterprise Portal servers sustained 47-percent to 85-percent CPU utilization; and an 8-core, 16-GB Microsoft Windows Server AppFabric cache server sustained 7-percent CPU utilization and 73-percent memory utilization.
The benchmark results demonstrate the ability of Enterprise Portal to handle various loads concurrently, without compromising performance and scalability for critical business processes.
The benchmark results showed 20.68-percent performance degradation in response time when all servers are virtualized, 13.79-percent degradation when only the AOS and Enterprise Portal servers are virtualized, and 3.44-percent degradation when only the Enterprise Portal server is virtualized. Similar performance degradations in throughput were seen in the virtualized servers.

So I wondered. I could not use the Windows 7 tool to copy the ISO file to USB. It reported the Windows 8 ISO is not the right format. So what then? Burn a DVD… aaargh.
Somewhere on the consumer preview site http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/consumer-preview it mentioned that the setup would allow you to install from USB one way or the other.
Thus I started on my production tablet PC the downloaded Windows8-ConsumerPreview-setup.exe file to see what would happen. No guts no glory!
The setup started with a check of available apps and hardware. Gave me the list of what is OK and what needs an upgrade. Bravely I clicked next. It offered the product key. After that I stopped. I canceled the setup.
Now in the mean time it had installed on the desktop an shortcut Install Windows. OK, before you hit that icon, make sure you have a USB stick with sufficient memory inserted in your system. I had this due to the fact I had previously tried the Windows 7 tool to unpack the ISO on the USB stick.
And now it is happily downloading the installation bits to this USB stick…
