i’ve got a customer that has inquired about boot times in windows 7 and i started digging into the windows 7 sdk to find some great utilities that help you look at the boot process in windows 7.

xperf

installed as part of the sdk, this command line allows you to take a look a detailed information on performance

xbootmgr

command line that allows you to grab statistics of a reboot/hibernate/standby/etc. of your system

xperfui

from codeplex, this places a gui on the command line tools – tools – trace session - boot trace allows you to get the trace file that you can display with the final utility.
