  • Nice to see updates coming along, but where is support for deduplication of the storage pool as mentioned at TechEd NA 2014?

  • Tried to install, first through Windows Update, fails, then directly. Did a rollback. Doesn't go through. Anything similar to UR3 last year? error 1603.. and transforming table errors in log. I should have not blindly try to install the update through windows update as it was suggested and waited some times :(

  • Me too. Update failed. Error code 800706423 in Windows Update History and error 1603 in DPM KB296014 log.

  • I also found APPCRASH error of Msiexec.exe in Application Event Log.

  • Patrick and dpmuserinjpn, you are not alone. I am receiving the same error upon installing the update. Any update on this error Microsoft or DPM team?

  • I missed, error code 80070643.

  • 2012R2 Rollup 2, Windows Server 2012R2. Tried to update to Rollup3 on DPM Server, Error 0x80070643.

  • Any protection of SQL Server 2014?

  • For some reason the failed RU3 installation seems to have rolled back my dpm server to a previous state. I was missing some protection groups and most other protection groups had most of their recovery points missing. I managed to repair my dpm by restoring a previous database backup and doing a dpmsync. 2 out of 3 rollups of dpm2012r2 had major bugs in them. Come on QA you can do better...

  • In Forum I have a thread open where others could install the dpm update manually, unfortunatly, on my end, that also didn't help.

  • Installed OK using Windows Updates, updated client agents, but since then am unable to backup any of my Hyper-V VMs. I get a 'VssNullProvider' service failing on all my Hyper-V cluster nodes and am unable to run consistency checks. I manually re-installed the client on protected nodes, but no change.

  • Barush, I have exactly the same issue. VssNullProvider stopped on all Hyper-V Servers. In my case the backup seems to operate properly. I can manually start the VssNullProvider service. But after one or two backups the service is stopped again. I have posted the issue on the support forum:

  • I'm having random issues with Exchange 2007 Backups - since the update. Various mailbox DBs backing up quite happily until just before the upgrade now fail.

"Activation of COM component ExchangeCmdletWrapper failed on (ID 30220 Details: Unknown error (0x80131700) (0x80131700))

Please make sure that the COM component ExchangeCmdletWrapper is configured appropriately."

Any ideas? I can't see anything online about this.

  • I could not update RU3 with error 0x80070643 many times. In my case, RU3 version VSS Null Provider still remained after RU3 rolledback. I think that this provider may block update.

    My workaround

Delete VssNullProvider from Component Services\Computers\My Computer\COM+ Applications.
Delete VSS Null Provider entries from SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VSS\Providers. (Get Providers GUID bye "vssadmin list providers")
    Restart Computer.
Install DPM 2012 R2 RU3 mannually. Update success now.
    Restart Computer.
    Upgrade all existing DPM agents.

  • I was just about to upgrade my DPM 2012 R2 to UR3, then something said look to see what issues users maybe having, I'm so glad I did! Sorry to hear all your troubles, how are thing working for you all now?

    Please let me know, THX
