Here’s a hotfix for ConfigMgr 2007 that we recently published. This is a hotfix to correct an issue where the TSManager.exe and TSInstallSWUpdates.exe processes freeze under certain scenarios, causing Software Updates to fail.

=====

Consider the following scenario:

  • - You install and configure a software update point in Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
  • - You synchronize the catalog for a client computer.
  • - You create a deployment.
  • - In the Deployment Schedule page, you configure the software update in the deployment to become available at a specific date and time.
  • - You create an Operating System Deployment (OSD) task and configure it to use the "Install Software Updates" action.
  • - The OSD task runs on the client computer.

In this scenario, the TSManager.exe and TSInstallSWUpdates.exe processes freeze. Therefore, the software update is not installed. Additionally, the following message is logged in the SMSTS log:

Timed out waiting for updates refresh complete notification
