Question of the Week and Guidance Update

Can I replicate or cluster exchange.box? Exchange.box is the database on the bridgehead Domino server that holds mail pending delivery to the Exchange bridgehead server.  This database is manually created by an administrator when setting up Exchange Server 2003 Connector for Lotus Notes.

The exchange.box database is based on the mail.box template found on every Lotus Domino server.  Mail.box type databases do not replicate.  Scheduled replication will ignore this database.  Forcing manual replication will initiate a replication event between replica copies of mail.box type databases, but deletions (documents that have routed) do not replicate, which would cause problems if the secondary server ever began routing mail to the Exchange bridgehead server - all previously routed mail that had replicated over would still be sitting in exchange.box and would then route again.

We are releasing an updated version of the Exchange Server 2003 Coexistence and Migration for Lotus Domino mail whitepaper on Thursday, July 6.  This document was originally released as a .chm (help) style file, but the July version will be a .doc file, which should make it much easier to read.  We have also beefed up several sections, including discussion redundancy in much more detail.  Go to https://www.microsoft.com/technet/move to download this (and all of our) guidance.

It's a beautiful afternoon here in Redmond.  It's quiet around the office and we're all ready for the weekend off.  I hope you enjoy your weekend as well!

Till next time,

Amy
