Hi,

I’m Cliff Evans.  I work for Microsoft and I’m a Security Strategy Manager working in the UK.

I have 15 years experience of working predominately as a Developer but also as an IT Pro.  I’m proud to say that this was in a freelance capacity, this makes me proud because to me this feels like the real definition of being ‘At the coalface’.  More recently I’m had the pleasure of seeing the industry from the other side of the fence working for Microsoft for the last 6 years.  I  joined Microsoft as a technology consultant specialising in Commerce Server and Content Management Server.  I had a great time in this role but have now changed roles to become the auspiciously titled Security Strategy Manager.  In this role I get to focus on something quite different for me, namely, the big picture of, “How do we improve security & privacy satisfaction amongst Microsoft customers and partners?”

Let me give you some background by explaining a bit about the part of Microsoft I work in.  Within Microsoft we have what we call the Security & Privacy Initiative (SPI). We have a number of initiatives, but I won’t go into that for now.  The goal of SPI is to advance security & privacy satisfaction among users of Microsoft products and services. Through this blog I’ll share thoughts on the perceptions that currently exist regarding Microsoft security & privacy, and also share new and hopefully interesting information that demonstrate Microsoft's continued commitment to security & privacy.
