Woot! My video is not posted to TechNet Edge as well! As a heads up, I will likely cross-post all videos I do to both Showcase and Edge. If there is anything you would like to see a video or screencast for, please let me know. My focus will be on Systems Management but I have bunches of co-workers working in other areas that can produce videos.
Windows Intune Overview on TechNet Edge
It took quite a bit longer than I wanted to get this video recorded, posted and available, but it is now finally here! I recorded a screen cast which I posted to Microsoft Showcase as an Overview to Windows Intune Beta. Windows Intune is a cloud based PC management tool from Microsoft that is currently in beta. I have been using it to manage my home network for a couple months now and it has greatly simplified how I manage my machines. My home network is a little more complicated than most average consumers though, so let me start off by saying – This is likely NOT the solution that most individuals will look at for managing their PC’s.
This solution is designed for small to large organizations that are looking to reduce their equipment and maintenance costs in their organizations. It is also a great solution for service providers who are looking to offer a PC management solution to customers. With the exception of a small agent that needs to be deployed to the machines you wish to manage, and having a Silverlight enabled web browser, all the rest of the service exists in the cloud. More specifically at Microsoft Datacenters. There are no servers or services that you have to deploy on premise.
What does Windows Intune offer? Well take a look at my screencast to find out!
Here is a link to the Microsoft Showcase site where the video resides.
This week I was in Portland where I delivered a short presentation to the Oregon Computer Consultants Association on what Microsoft is doing in the cloud. Here are the slides and some additional information for that session.
Below is a link to my SkyDrive where I have placed the slides.
It has been a long time since I have leveraged this blog for anything useful. I made a decision some months ago to move my blog off site to http://stewedprunes.com using WordPress and Microsoft SQL. That blog has been moving along and things have settled down enough that I would like to leverage this blog for more as well.
I will begin with changing the look of the blog so I can somewhat differentiate mine from other TechNet”blogs. I will be working on the look and feel a bit today and hopefully get it all wrapped up by end of day.
Next, I will make a few posts here to give you an idea of what this blog will be used for.
Finally, I will cross post a few of my posts from Stewed Prunes to this blog to jump start some activity.
As always, I enjoy your feedback and look forward to some great conversations!
