The Active Directory Management Pack (ADMP) monitors Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2 domain controllers.
ADMP provides both proactive and reactive monitoring of your Active Directory deployment. It monitors events that various Active Directory components and subsystems place in the Application, System, and Service event logs. It also monitors the overall health of the Active Directory system and provides alerts for critical performance issues. The monitoring that this management pack provides includes monitoring of domain controllers and monitoring of health from the perspective of clients that use Active Directory resources. To monitor domain controllers, ADMP provides a predefined, ready-to-run set of processing rules, monitoring scripts, and reports that are designed specifically to monitor the performance and availability of domain controllers. To easily assess the security state of Windows machines, Microsoft offers the free Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) scan tool. MBSA includes a graphical and command line interface that can perform local or remote scans of Microsoft Windows systems. MBSA 2.1.1 builds on previous versions by adding support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. As with the previous MBSA 2.1 release, MBSA includes 64-bit installation, security update and vulnerability assessment (VA) checks, improved SQL Server 2005 checks, and support for the latest Windows Update Agent (WUA) and Microsoft Update technologies. More information on the capabilities of MBSA 2.1 and 2.1.1 is available on the MBSA Web site. MBSA 2.1.1 runs on Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP and Windows 2000 systems and will scan for missing security updates, rollups and service packs using Microsoft Update technologies. ILMerge is a utility that can be used to merge multiple .NET assemblies into a single assembly. ILMerge takes a set of input assemblies and merges them into one target assembly. The first assembly in the list of input assemblies is the primary assembly. When the primary assembly is an executable, then the target assembly is created as an executable with the same entry point as the primary assembly. Also, if the primary assembly has a strong name, and a .snk file is provided, then the target assembly is re-signed with the specified key so that it also has a strong name. ILMerge is packaged as a console application. But all of its functionality is also available programmatically. There are several options that control the behavior of ILMerge. See the documentation that comes with the tool for details. ILMerge runs in the v2.0 .NET Runtime, but it is also able to merge v1 or v1.1 assemblies. However it can merge PDB files only for v2 assemblies. Currently, ILMerge works only on Windows-based platforms. It does not yet support Rotor or Mono. DebugDiag 1.0 was released as part of the IIS Diagnostic toolkit and as a standalone tool. DebugDiag 1.1 is currently available as a standalone tool. Overview DebugDiag provides an extensible object model in the form of COM objects and provides a script host with a built-in reporting framework. It is composed of the following 3 components; a debugging service, a debugger host, and the user interface. The Debugging Service The debugger service (DbgSvc.exe) performs the following tasks: l Attach/Detach the host to processes l Collect performance monitor data l Implement HTTP ping to detect hangs l Inject leak monitor in running processes l Collect debugging session state information l Shows the state of each rule defined The Debugger Host The Debugger Host (DbgHost.exe) hosts the Windows Symbolic Debugger Engine (dbgeng.dll) to attach to processes and generate memory dumps. It also hosts the main analyzer module to analyze memory dumps. Dbghost.exe has no dependency on the service “DbgSvc.exe” and can be used separately. The User Interface The user interfaces (DebugDiag.exe and DebugDiagAnalysisOnly.exe) present an interface to analyze memory dumps, automate the creation of control scripts and show the status of running processes, including services. It is composed of 3 views: l Rules: Creates control script for the debugger host through a wizard. The script is located under \scripts l Advanced Analysis: Runs a selected “Analysis Script” against one or more memory dumps. l Processes: Shows status of running processes/services Note: DebugDiagAnalysisOnly.exe does not require elevation on operating systems beginning with Vista, so it only contains the Advanced Analysis view.

A toolkit to apply security mitigation technologies to arbitrary applications
Security mitigation technologies are technologies designed to make it more difficult for an attacker to exploit vulnerabilities in a given piece of software. The Enhanced Mitigation Evaluation Toolkit (EMET) is a toolkit that allows certain security mitigation technologies to be applied to user specified applications. It provides four unique capabilities: 1. Until now, many of the available mitigations have required for an application to be manually opted in and recompiled. EMET changes this by allowing a user to opt in applications via a simple command-line utility without recompilation. This is especially handy for deploying mitigations on software that was written before the mitigations were available and when source code is not available. 2. EMET provides a higher degree of granularity by allowing mitigations to be applied on a per process basis. There is no need to enable an entire product or suite of applications. This is helpful in situations where a process is not compatible with a particular mitigation technology. When that happens, a user can simply turn EMET off for that process. 3.
