September 21, 2005 Orange launched the new SPV M5000 3G Smart Phone featuring Windows Mobile 5.0. According to The Register the phone will be offered in the UK, France and Switzerland from October 2005.

The M5000 is Orange first 3G-enabled PDA and features a lot nice features such as:

  • 128 x 81 x 25 mm
  • 285 g
  • clamshell form factor
  • thumbboard
  • 65K colour display with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels.
  • palmtop or tablet configurations
  • 520 MHz PXA270 processor,
  • connectivity options including tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz; support for 3G, GPRS Class 10, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11b, Infrared and USB 2.0.
  • SDIO capable SD/MMC card expansion slot
  • dual cameras for 3G video calls, one front-mounted with a resolution of 0.3 MP, one back-mounted camera with a resolution of 1.3 MP
  • exchangeable 1620 mAh Lithium Ion battery with up to 260 hours of standby time and up to 8 hours of talk time
