Did you know that more than half of adolescents in the United States have been bullied online?  What’s equally disturbing is about the same number of teens have engaged in cyber bullying themselves, which, by definition, consists of participating in torment, harassment and humiliation of another individual using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies or mobile phones.

Well over half of young people do not tell their parents when they’ve been the victim or the instigator of cyber bullying.

In partnership with Microsoft and Chicago Public Schools, United Way of Metropolitan Chicago hosted a Parent Seminar in Brighton Park on Friday, June 29, which featured local cyber bullying experts from both Microsoft and Erie House, who educated parents on ways to keep their children safe online.

Microsoft is pleased to offer its support to anti-cyber bullying initiatives and hopes to reduce the number of cyber bullying crimes by advocating for such events in the future.
