In part 2 of the Virtualization series we focus in on Type 2 or Hosted Hypervisor solutions. This would be tools Like Virtual PC and Virtual Server. These type 2 hypervisor products are hosted on top of an existing Operating System such as Windows 7, or Windows Server. Because they run on top of an operating system there are effectively 2 Hardware abstraction Layers for the Guest Operating systems to navigate. That doesn’t make a Type 2 hypervisor undesirable per se. In fact in this installment we show you why it can work to your advantage.
