The Awards for Professionalism are the computing and networking industry's highest honor and represent the global hall of fame for the industry. Working with award consortium partners of Interop Conferences / NetWorld+Interop, Network Computing Magazine (CMP/UBM), Network World Magazine (IDG), later joined by Microsoft, Cisco Press (Pearson Publishing), Windows ITPro (Penton), GITCA, AgileIT, Tech Team Global, Information Week, Que SAMS, National Seminars Group, Pearson Technology Group, and an array of industry leaders, The Network Professional Association (NPA) began honoring professionals in the computing and networking community in 2002.

This year’s award winners are:

Award Category: Best Networking Professional — Career Achievement Award This award honors a network computing professional who has demonstrated years of the highest ideals of the network computing professional. This individual serves as a role model in the network computing community and may be considered by peers as an industry luminary.

Awardee: Professor Tadao Saito, CTO Toyota, Global Top Pioneering Leader, Inventor, Researcher and Innovator

Tadao is a living legend and pioneer in the global industry. A Global Hall of Fame and highest industry award for Awards for Professionalism Career Achievement Award winner.

  • Inventor of digital switching, which is the basis of all telecommunications, digital communications and the internet
  • Chair of several Japan Commissions responsible for developing policies and regulations that are the model for the world and let to Japan leading the world in broadband
  • CTO Toyota-Info Technology Center
  • Professor Emeritus, the University of Tokyo
  • Former president of IEICE (Institute of Information, Electronics and Communication Engineers)
  • Life fellow of the IEEE
  • Honorary member and life fellow of the IEICE
  • Official Japan Delegate to IFIP GA and Technical Committee 6 (Communication Systems)

Professor Tadao Saito, CTO Toyota, is a global top pioneering leader, inventor, researcher and innovator shaping business, industry, research, education, government policies, international standards and society. Toyota is a global Fortune 8 company with revenues of 221.7 Billion. Prior to joining Toyota, Tadao invented digital switching that laid the foundation for “all” digital communications including voice communications and the internet.

Award Category:  Top of the Mark — Volunteer Award

This award honors the networking professional who has made the most effective combination of the ideals of professionalism and is a notable example of the best in giving back through selfless effort.

Awardee: Ravikanth Chaganti, Engineer – Dell Inc., Bangalore IT Pro User Group Leader , Microsoft Share Point Expert. 

Ravikanth has over 11 years of experience in the IT industry and is known for his willingness to share his knowledge with his peers and the technical community. Ravikanth has been one of the instrumental personalities behind the success of Bangalore IT Pro user group (http://bitpro.in). He joined the group in 2009 and was awarded the community star award for that year. He soon became one of the four leads of this user group and started working on improving the user group experience. Through his leadership, Ravikanth enabled UG meets at Dell Inc. offices and this helped the UG speakers showcase exciting demos of the technology they were introducing. Ravikanth also worked with several of his coworkers at Dell to encourage them to speak at Bangalore IT Pro user group meetings.
