Dan’s CIPS Message

The IT industry desperately needs its own self-governing professional association. Such an association would benefit the members, the public, and our country. As with all professional associations, the members would benefit from greater respect, larger pay cheques, better job security, etc.

CIPS (“Canadian Information Processing Society”) is the Canadian association of the IT Professional. CIPS has several thousand members across all provinces and territories. At fifty years old CIPS is the longest running IT organization in Canada and the second oldest in the world – next to the ACM in the U.S. CIPS is a not-for-profit, volunteer run, vendor neutral organization. All members are required to agree to a professional code of conduct. CIPS also offers the only legislatively recognized IT designation in Canada, the I.S.P. (“Information Systems Professional”).

If you are looking for a rewarding experience; if you are looking to demonstrate your IT skills; if you are looking to network with other IT professionals then I strongly encourage you to become involved with CIPS Toronto!
