EnergizeIT: The Unconference -- You Install, Learn: Vista, Virtual Server, Office 2007

I am a "geek".   I admit it even though I started in 1965. So I couldn't pass up EnergizeIT on June 24th. I consider it a kind of Unconference since it's centered of what we want-having fun, interaction, hands-on labs with our own laptops, free software, sharing within a community of IT.

Plus you get a unique opportunity to plan for the adoption and training of: Windows Vista, Office 2007, Virtual Server, and more.

Finally, there is sponsorship of a charity at each live location, and IT Pros have the biggest heart and drive for community involvement; for making a difference!

You can join a live EnergizeIT event or stream from anywhere in Canada:

I'm going and will blog about it here in the CIM. Come and chat or send me a blog about it and I'll put it up as a guest blog. You will see the other CIM bloggers at EnergizeIT too.

Enjoy!

  • Stephen: Havn't seen your blog about EngergizeIT yet. I wrote part of it in my blog, and I will keep writing it later.

  • Ben,

Good to hear from you. I have a blog in the queue about EnergizeIT focusing on the Community Aspect. I enjoyed the collaboration with fellow attendees and the user group leaders too. The loadfest was great fun with attendees loading IIS, then VS, finally Vista. I had a chance to speak for a few minutes about CIPS and professionalism and got a great response during and after the event. I'm still getting e-mails about it and I answered a lot of questions at the event due to the high interest. I enjoyed EnergizeIT and I am looking forward to participating again. CIPS was an association partner of EnergizeIT so we had a booth in Toronto plus our logo was displayed on the main stage as a sponsor. In talking with the group there, they also had a great time and would highly recommend it for the future. The response was so positive, like here in Vancouver, to the Professionalism and Career Development that we offer through the ISP. Moreover I had the great fortune in being able to introduce the Neil Squire Society at the Vancouver event and they raised a good amount for their work too.

    Cheers,

  • Ben, you may want to see my upcoming post on loading Virtual Server under Vista. I did this in preparation for EnergizeIT and shared some tips at the event about how to do this.

  • Stephen: Sorry, I got the wrong idea that you were in Calgary, then I don't remember anything about your talk :)

  • A little old history...Don't you love those mysterious invitations one receives? I got one in 1999 from...

  • Ben, with streaming country-wide, concurrent events in Calgary and Vancouver plus the big show in Toronto, I feel we all shared in the same unconference, EnergizeIT. By being here in this blog, you collaborated with us in Vancouver and virtually heard my talk too :-)

    Cheers,
    Stephen Ibaraki
