I have a background in tech strategy and psychology, and was really geeked when I took a look at Spigit's potential. Unfortunately, I haven't yet gotten executives to believe in the value of crowdsourcing and/or directed innovation. So no budget or approval is coming my way to discuss with a vendor. That leaves me in a position of wanting to implement an ideation tool at the department level, show some ROI in practical use for challenges and situations that I know well in my own department. That could help establish a case study and results to share more broadly. Since I don't have budget authority, and no one 'owns' innovation or similar, having an opportunity to spin up something for free, or very small cost, would be helpful to introduce the concepts into a conservative Fortune 100 company.

PS - Sure would have been nice if MS bought NewsGator, which improves the value of SP in a dozen ways, including an ideation module.

We at Brightidea, as the leading end-to-end Innovation Management software provider, definitely consider sharepoint as an important connector and integration to get at the source of where collaboration and ideas happen. See this link for more information on our integration- http://bit.ly/nbLQAX

Our software not only powers the front-end of idea collection and collaboration, but the backend decision-making that nets further review and collaboration to make better business decisions, and then our light-weight project execution and implementation tool that allows you to track the entire innovation pipeline, form initial concept to cash. Brightidea, while in use internally at large organizations like Sony, HP, AMEX, Bayer, Kraft, UBS, etc. also powered two major public-challenges from GE- the $100M Healthymagination Challenge to fight breast cancer and the Ecomagination Challenge. For more info on those check out challenge.healthymagination.com/health and for info on the results of the Ecomagination Challenge- http://bit.ly/c7hwDn.
