image My good buddy Rodney wrote up a great explanation of all the activities we’re doing as part of EnergizeIT. Damir wrote up a special edition of the TechNet Flash newsletter talking about all the cities – including registration links for all sorts of activities. It didn’t sit in peoples mailboxes for more then an hour before the e-mails started coming in about where were the East Coast stops (besides Newfoundland).

Well – as the resident East Coaster on the team, I thought I would bring the region up to speed on what’s up! We are actually working on a bunch of activities in three of the four Atlantic Provinces. Unfortunately only the one event in St. John’s Newfoundland made the deadline for the initial mass-mailing as we are still trying to negotiate venues and gather local interest in what can take place.

We’re trying a different approach this time around – instead of focusing all our resources in one event in one location – we’re going a bit more grass roots by visiting a LOT of places for activities.  Hey - we’re open to connect in whatever means possible when we’re in town.

To give you an idea on where “we’ll be to” in April – I thought I’d share some details. On Monday April 20th - myself, Pierre Roman and Christian Beauclair will be flying into Halifax (we’re still finalizing details for an evening event – more on this later). While we’re in town, we’ll be visiting our friends at the Nova Scotia Community College either Monday during the day or Tuesday morning. Tuesday afternoon (the 21st) we’ll be heading out on a drive to Moncton for a visit to New Brunswick and present at a special UserGroup gathering that Marco Shaw is coordinating. We’ll then crash overnight and head out the following day with our team splitting up: Christian will be heading to Fredericton for a user group on Wednesday the 22nd and Pierre and I will be returning to Halifax in order to fly out to St. John’s Newfoundland on either the 22nd or early on Thursday the 23rd. In St. John’s – we’re presenting at a user group meeting at MUN and catching a flight back home sometime on the 24th.

Tough week – but I’m looking forward to it. Being on the road and connecting directly with technical professionals, listening to what you have to say is the part of my job I like the best. Talking with Pierre and Christian – we’re going to make time to connect with people outside our scheduled activities. If you’re up for a coffee or a pint - drop me an email.

Stay tuned here to the blog for the final links and details of the events out east. They will also be up on the main landing page as they get confirmed.

  • I gotta say.  Excellent Idea.   Energize IT was always amazing but Canada is a huge country and other's outside of Toronto deserve to have it come to them.

If it can do to other cities what it has done to those of us who have been affected it will be worth it.
