Hero
Pronunciation: 'hir-(")O
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural heroes
Etymology: Latin heros, from Greek hErOs

There are a lot of heroes in day to day life.  Fire, police, paramedics, armed forces, system administrators, network engineers, systems analysts, the list goes on.  Some may find it odd that I listed some IT related careers in that list, but I think it is perfectly normal.  Dictionary.com has a definition of a hero listed as..

"a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal"

I know a lot of people in IT who can be describes with that phrase.  Do you know an IT hero?  I'd love to meet them!  With the upcoming launch of Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2008 the hunt is on for IT heroes who are using one of these technologies to save the day in their organization.  With the theme of the upcoming launch being "Heroes Happen Here" we are looking for those who have begun working with these technologies to share their experiences.

What kind of stories are we looking for?  Well first off they need to be true stories :) but specifically we are looking to see how you have used these technologies to increase the security, flexibility, scalability and/or efficiency of your network.  Sometimes the greatest form of heroism is shown when nothing happens—a story where people or computers were protected without it being completely apparent to the outside world may be worthy of telling.   Stories can be serious, dramatic or humorous but they must be accurate and verifiable.

How do you submit your story?  Easy, e-mail the CanITPro team your idea or submission and we will take care of the rest!  You can submit your own story, the story of a co-worker, or friend.

The team is looking forward to your submission!
