Who are you?

Chua Khim Teck and Hoon Thien Rong are currently an undergraduate in Nanyang Technological University under School of Computer Engineering. We are currently developing Hibernater which allows users to save and resume their working states at different computers. Think of it like Hibernate on Windows but on different computers, of course the list of applications supported is still increasing.

What did you do before creating your company?

Both of the founders run a web solutions company developing websites and managing for them.

How did you get the idea? What s the genesis?

Khim Teck was thinking hard about what to do for his Final Year Project back in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. An everyday problem happened to came up in his mind: Having trouble resuming his work everyday in school, though there is laptop, but he does not like the idea of carrying 2KG of load to school just for surfing and report editing. Thus the idea of having to save and resume the current working states was created.

What do you sell? What is your company’s mission?

Hibernater as the software to allow users to easily save and resume their work. Currently there are premium versions which start from as low as $1 a month. Affordable to the mass market.

What is your market?

The general users who switch between multiple computers.

Funding history?

Currently funded by Azione Capital.

Growth? Internationalization?

Most of our users are from Singapore, but we seek to expand our user base internationally since Hibernater is an international software. We might localize our software if there are interest from non-English communities.

Are you hiring? If yes, what? Where?

We are looking for suitable candidates sales and marketing positions.

Which platform are you building on? Why?

Windows platform currently, most of the users from our target market comes from the windows platform.

Do you have any Software IP? Is there something that you’re the only one to do on the market?

Currently Hibernater is the only service in the market, alot of people confused about backup/synchronizing applications but Hibernater is not about backup/synchronizing. Hibernater is about resuming your working applications to where you left before you logoff.

Where do you see opportunities today in the Software/internet areas?

Internet connected applications which allow users to work anywhere seemlessly

What about the BizSpark Program? What do you think? Are you going to join? Why?

It's great, we get to save tremendous cost in our research and development. Furthermore we get to support more windows applications for Hibernater.

Any advice to young Software entrepreneurs?

Working hard is the key.
